Zensynthium commented on Vertical integration is the only thing that matters   becca.ooo/blog/vertical-i... · Posted by u/miguelraz

Very interesting article. As a developer that has focused on writing more code than the infrastructure and tooling, I can definitely see the benefit to a product existing that allows everything to work together more seamlessly because on the surface everything we need to do it already exists. Something like glue code we could drop in or like you mentioned the whole integrated environment. I didn't realize how specific and difficult it was to do something like this, maybe it's not that we should have deployable option, but that technology could get to a point to where maybe implementing and deploying this could be worth it as you could get more value than effort it takes to implement on a per company basis so companies besides Google and other big tech companies can operate like this.

Love the website and article! Looks like even with CSS there's always new things to learn and do, good stuff.

If every song afterwards is a hit because of this and future study's findings being implemented, I wonder if the criteria for a song being a hit will change. Is it a predetermined pattern of the song, or is it the novelty I wonder.

>> Docker, the company, is failing. Docker, the container technology, is alive and very well.

Is it though? Podman is more well liked (no daemon / non-root) and Kubernetes doesn't have direct support for it any more. I don't think it matters much that k8s uses CRI-O but docker needs to be #1 for running a container on a single machine. Yet, they seem to be letting that slip away because it is not directly monetizable. Software businesses need to be creative - invest a lot into free things, which support monetization of others. If you want low risk returns, buy T-bills.

I would also never work for Amazon. Their recruiting has contacted me many times over the years. But not in a million year would I work for them.
Zensynthium · 3 years ago
Why not? I've heard about Amazon's horrible conditions for drivers, but haven't heard too much about how it is in their developer department.

Derek from Veritasium had a pretty good video on becoming an expert in anything and I didn't see age as a blocking factor. I'd say go for it! Also check out the video here, it's worth a watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5eW6Eagr9XA

Maybe Ocarina of Time was oddly prescient and we'll soon have little quadcopters following us around saying "Hey! Listen!" to alert us to fairly-obvious details.
