Investment is not the same as speculation.
Even without guaranteed appreciation in value people will buy homes because they have an asset compared to alternatives like renting. When renting you’re guaranteed a loss on rent paid.

I've never been to Chattanooga, TN but once I realized I can work from home I've been curious about owning a home somewhere with gigabit fiber but without ridiculously expensive real estate within commuting distance to a Costco or Sam's Club (so clearly not Jersey City, NJ or Longmont, CO).
What I noticed just looking at Google Maps Street View was that any home within my price range lacked a sidewalk. Apparently, only the wealthy people in Chattanooga, TN need sidewalks. How do we talk about bike lanes when places lack sidewalks?
>Never in history has anyone been able to buy shares of highly coveted art... maybe now you can
Well, firstly, let's be clear that it's highly contentious whether you meaningfully own the art if you own an NFT. But let's assume that's a solved problem. YOu can already buy shares of highly coveted art - https://www.masterworks.io . It's exactly the same model as NFTs - some individual buys the actual art, then they offering to sell "shares" of the art. The difference is that Masterworks doesn't carry all the risk of being scammed in the crypto market.
The stage of history doesn't care how many followers you have on Twitter, or how many people's lives you can destroy in the name of your religion masquerading as science. In the coming years, the US MUST LEAD. It must shake the slop from itself and rise to the role of world leader again, not just with guns but with minds, because the battlefield of the future is a battlefield of the mind. If it does not rise, China or Russia will be glad to.
Either "wokeness" dies, or the US dies. It's that simple.
Are you talking about modern "wokeness" or are you talking about the while history of the United States as a primarily Christian state? Because I still feel more crippled, muzzled, and persecuted by us Christian morality/ideology than any recent up surgance in "wokeness".
Can not agree with the React part though.
They keep so many things backward compatible. React 16 is 3, 4 years old now? I've updated pretty big code base from early 16 to latest 16 version painlessly - like in a day. Used some of the available code-modes for some really old part of the project. It worked flawlessly. Currently there are console warnings to fix certain things and that is it. No breaking changes, no nothing.
Now, React 17 will be a problem - there are a lots of 3rd party UI libs that will not work with it. But I think we are pretty well set to use react 16 for the next couple of years, making it work for 6, 7 years total. I think that is a century in terms of FE and is great.
Also, "...React pulling a sneaky on everyone and introducing hooks, which was a pretty bad move, especially if you needed to migrate to them" - just don't use hooks then - no problem.

Man those folks should start a co-op, since they don't need their employers and are capable of creating value outside of them.
