In Sweden we use BankID (there is a similar service with the same name in each Scandinavian country).

It's impossibly convenient to be perfectly fair with you, however I know that my bank has stopped issuing the "BankID Card" (which was a card and pin device that allowed you to generate challenge numbers)- and now forces you to use the BankID app -- which will not run on rooted phones of course.

It's even slightly worse as the App requires NFC; so I can't keep a backup on my iPad (which is what I was doing before).

BankID works great on GrapheneOS fortunately.

> Python is not my favorite programming language. In fact, allow me to drop the euphemism and express my pure, unadulterated thoughts about it: I never liked Python, I see it as a huge red flag and I think the world would be a better place if we all decided to finally move on from it.

Why do people make hating a tool their entire personality? I have noticed this same thing with languages like Go ("oh no Go still bad") and C++. I don't like C++ myself but I don't hate it. It would be like hating a screwdriver.

If you don't like a language simply don't use it, there are hundreds of alternatives. If your employer is making you write in that language you should hate your employer, not the language.

Humans have a very strong tendency to identify with certain groups (while distancing from other groups).

This is just one such example and it's similar to how group dynamics with sport teams and politics work.

As someone coming from Ruby to TypeScript, I find types cumbersome, verbose, complex, and not of much use. I have been writing and reading TS for the past six months. What am I missing?

Types in TS can indeed become very complex (depending on their usage of course) and it might not be the best example of the benefits.

I personally think that simpler Rust is a better example of the benefits static typing (or maybe something like Gleam).

> If I open too many tabs in Chrome I can feel the bottom of the laptop getting hot, open a YouTube video and the fans will often spin up.

I've got the Framework 13 with the Ryzen 5 7640U and I routinely have dozens of tabs open, including YouTube videos, docker containers, handful of Neovim instances with LSPs and fans or it getting hot have never been a problem (except when I max out the CPU with heavy compilation).

The issue you're seeing isn't because x86 is lacking but something else in your setup.

Think hard about the psychology there. You want to burn it because he told you not to. You want to burn it to declare your autonomy from his authority. But burning it is a symbol of hate of our country, not Trump. Perhaps he knows this, and perhaps that’s exactly how he wants you to act.

Attributing "4D chess" to Trump's actions is tiresome.

Trump has what, 3 and a bit years as POTUS?

All this power grabbing is setting himself up for what? In 3.5 years he is out the door and an election will be held with presumably Vance as the POTUS nom.

If you play the tape out and, as expected, the GOP is massacred at mid-terms, and Dems get in their pick in at the next election I would expect all this to be undone.

What is the point?

And I reject any argument that Trump will take the POTUS position for a third term. It won't happen.

You're naive if you say it absolutely won't happen.

This scenario has played out again and again throughout history when dictators install themselves, existing rules and legality be damned.

If you have to do any travel for work, a lightweight but fast portable machine that is easy to lug around beats any productivity gains from two machines (one much faster) due to the challenge of keeping two devices in sync.

I do this regularly and it's really not a big concern.
