Are there many examples of the U.S. government purchasing companies in high-tech industries and running and growing them successfully?

Ignoring the politics of this, I don't understand if this is likely to be long term good or bad for Intel and the U.S.'s ability to remain relevant in the chips manufacturing space.

I don't know how else to describe this than sad and cringe. At least people obsessed with owning multiple cats were giving their affection to something that theoretically can love you back.

I do not understand why such news would cause gold price to go up... What Trump is clearly aiming for is to replace gold with cryptocurrencies - that's why his recent moves to have his own coin, allow crypto in 401(k), push toward "crypto dollar", and now trying to limit gold inflow to US with tariffs. If this goes as planned then gold will become less relevant in global monetary system, so it should go down, right?

Are these tuition caps better trackers for what wealthy means these days than say conventional rule-of-thumbs (like making six figures used to mean you were wealthy)?

>A growing number of towns and villages are hollowing out, with nearly four million homes abandoned over the past two decades, government data released last year showed.

Is this large enough for city / town footprints to start shrinking?

absolutely, search for the term "haikyo"

I was always curious about this. In some of the star wars movies, you dont see any spin, yet they are not floating around (e.g., notice how Orson Krennic has a backdrop of a planet, isnt floating, yet the planet isnt spinning https://allfortheboys.com/ben-mendelsohn/)

I know Interstellar did not ignore the spin, but do movies like Star Wars just ignore the entire concept?

I think they have artificial gravity in star wars iirc

The billionaire with a doomsday bunker probably has enough rations to outlast you. It's best not to wait until the doomsday bunker stage to do something about the situation.

best bring out the bunker busters then

This reads more like an anecdotal rant about someone re-discovering dating. Newsflash - the majority of single 40-and-50-somethings are probably single for a reason.

Same mindset as Stalin. Granted, not as severe outcome, but the neurons seem to work in similar patterns

I don't really understand why Youtube won't let me create a profile, on my paid family account that I'm paying $29 NZD a month for, which lets me whitelist channels.

I'm happy for my kids to have free access to certain channels on youtube, but the mind numbing shorts, and shit they find on random channels just does my head in. And it seems to be getting worse, I'm not sure if its that they are getting older and able to search for more content or if the content is just getting worse, maybe both, but I'm probably just going to cancel the sub so they at least have to put up with terrible ads if they try to access it.

Ads as effective parental controls is wild, hilarious, and somewhat dystopian to me.
