I hopped on the youtube premium train a long time back, just because I mainly used youtube to consume podcasts and the like and it paid my creators better and got me no ads on youtube anywhere. The first time these BS policies hit me, a paying user, I will cancel it and never look back.
I was a family subscriber for 15 a month. Then they bumped the family plan up to $23 or something like that.
Yea no thanks, we have ad blockers and now use Orion browser to watch on ios mobile.

I've been using Bing for a few weeks now it is not all the way there yet but so far the experience is more gratifying than Google. The results seem to be better and there is less ads on top the search results. Their AI integration is also well accomplished. No complains there...
except you cant use the AI function without using Edge.. That's a huge complaint from me.

Desktop market share moves very slowly. A 1% shift per year is a big move last I looked. ChromeOS is doing about as well as possible gaining share.
ChromeOS is only in the market because they have cheap laptops that schools bought up. And not a single student I know would ever use one outside of school.

Note: if the server you're on is banned, you won't be able to move to a different server.
Why would your server get banned though? It's not going to happen to moderated servers. If you pick some small, weird, or insurrection aligned server, that might be an issue. Otherwise, you're just stressing out about something that won't happen.

I love the moving of goalposts that's happening here. "Just pick a server", "you can always migrate" moves to "you can always migrate if you happened to have picked a server not run by a hobbyist". Which, BTW, isn't even a filter criterion on the often linked instances.social.

All servers can communicate. You're not locked into servers. This isnt an MMO... infosec.exchange, the one I use, isnt an exclusive thing. It basically just shows my name as: unloco@infosec.exchange.
I can see and talk to mastodon.social. I can use hashtags and people from other servers will see it just like twitter.
The server you pick is just a name and a local server. If you pick a server that's dying, just move to the next one. You keep everything, it just changes from:
unloco@infosec.exhange to unloco@mastodon.social. You wont lose the friends, just the host name changes.
Also, once you use Safari tab groups + tab preview its hard to go back to FF.
The extra bar from the mouse-over is kind of silly but, a TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE?
