yeah it was basically that but I don't remember if it had USB or if it still had the old 15 pin analog at the other end.

I have a vague memory of a computer (probably in the 16 bit era?) saving money on providing two joystick ports by using a DB25 housing with the middle pins removed, leaving two 9 pin clusters at the ends, into which two DE9 joysticks could be plugged. The case plastic covered over the middle of the connector.
It was an accessory to let you use Amiga joysticks on the PC, from the mid 90s. I had one.

Imagine if the fundies had managed to smear Darwin's name enough that he couldn't be mentioned in polite society. We'd still have evolutionary biology, it'd just read weird. And we'd get weird artifacts like that explained here.

I think it would be extremely surprising for Universal Grammar to be proven false. We have not had any shortage of opportunity to teach animals structured language, and yet we have nothing to show for it. It seems pretty likely that a key factor in our fitness as a species was having the right hardware for grammar.
