There are other plausible places to direct the blame (for the energy issue, not the invasion). I, for one, think this is poor planning and naivete. The cold War wasn't that long ago and tensions have been high for years (since the invasion of Crimea at least). Nuclear energy has been ignored.

Quite the opposite, this was carefully planned. "Never let a good crisis go to waste."

The world needs to unite and eliminate Putin. Then we can start trying to fix this disaster.

I've been reading my bank cards with the 'unleashed' firmware, not tried a replay yet and it lists Mifare DESFire in the special read actions (not tried, not hw to test)

You can do that with an NFC-equipped Android phone and this app: https://github.com/johnzweng/bankomatinfos

It's also available on F-Droid: https://f-droid.org/en/packages/at.zweng.bankomatinfos2/

Current phone: Samsung S10e (5.8" AMOLED, 142mm/5.6" long) and previous: Motorola Moto X 1st gen from 2013 (4.7" AMOLED, 129mm/5.09" long). Very happy with them. Both being flagship models (powerful CPU), the only drawback is shorter battery life than other phones.

A piece of proprietary software that collects data on basically everything on your machine and is unavailable on Linux? Nice!

Surely this has organically risen to the front page, unaffected by it's ycombinator backing!

sm4rk0 · 4 years ago
Some red flags for me:

* needs email to download

* needs email to start

* spammy email subject with unicode fire in front (lost in HN): " You've been invited to Fig!"

* using trackers in email and app

* macOS only

Native messaging (which I use for my password manager) is broken. Screen sharing is broken. File picking/saving is hit and miss. It takes longer to start. My list of disks in bottom is riddled with random snap mounts.

This is what made me switch off ubuntu.

sm4rk0 · 4 years ago
Whoa! That's enough showstoppers for me. Where did you switch to?

When Ubuntu dropped 32-bit support, I relatively easily switched my old 32-bit netbook from Ubuntu to Debian (by changing the sources and some manual fiddling with packages). OTOH, I'm using Fedora on my work computer, just for the fun of it, and I'm really satisfied with it.

I would go for Debian or Gentoo.

Or use official PPAs for all the snaps that Canonical is forcing on users.

sm4rk0 · 4 years ago
Not sure official Mozilla PPA is going to ship debs.
