I don't know if iHiD will see this, but this is Lane, the founder of Boot.dev. One of our students shared this article with me, and it really sucks to see. Exercism has always been a go to recommendation of mine for students who need additional practice or to learn languages we don't yet teach.

I know you mentioned you don't wanna do ads, which makes sense. But if you're getting 1200 sign ups a day thats worth a lot, and id be happy to chat and see if there's a sponsor opportunity thats uninvasive and that could at least keep you going.

anyhow, you can reach me on Twitter @wagslane or via email: lane @ boot dev.

either way, hope things turn around

> ”sipping a hot, slightly bitter infusion of caffeinated leaves from a dried gourd through a filtered metal straw, before passing the gourd to their friends to share”

Someone might correct me, but I believe it is only in Brazil south that “chimarrão” (how they call this drink) is drank like this, hot and shared.

In Argentina and Uruguay you drink it individually. You can share the recipient with the mate in it, but once you added a refill of hot water and took the first sip, you have to drink it until the end before returning.

And in Paraguay they drink the “tereré” with cold water.

In Paraguay it is indeed cold terere but it is absolutely shared, rarely drank solo

Recently I had Carson on my podcast: https://youtu.be/9H5VK9vJ-aw?si=cv4ScxFTnJMRbsSH

He talked about this idea quite a bit, I love the idea of giving backend developers more control over the UI without resorting to huge JS frameworks

> They will instead generally pursue arts/crafts (including the craft of building computer programs in areas they are interested in), learning, exercise etc.

I always hear this argument about UBI and it almost sounds too good to be true. Like utopian. And I wonder what segment of population will actually become artists and craftsmen with renewed sense of purpose and fulfillment vs. the folks that will accelerate even further into melancholy and feelings of deep meaninglessness.

Some might. Most would watch TV, hang out with friends/family, scroll TikTok, workout, and play videogames

There are waaaay too many comments here hung up on the border example. This book changed the game for me, I consider myself a much more talented UX/UI designer. I can actually make stuff that doesn't suck now. highly recommend.

References to slavery in America, even references to movies of freed slaves struggling to free others are generally unwelcome. It’s not something most people want to be faced with when they just came for a simple technical discussion.
lanecwagner · 3 years ago
I found it clever and I welcome it. The history surrounding slavery isn't a taboo subject, what a ridiculous idea. The commenter in no way is condoning slavery.

http client, UI interactions logic, domain models, utilities like tree operations, browser domain logic

and all of that inside single go file?

I think you'd make your life 10 times easier by splitting it better

lanecwagner · 3 years ago
Did you even look at the repo? There are many files.

This is potentially exactly what I'm looking for to take Boot.dev to the next level. I'm a bit worried that it's too JS focused, but if I can hack in the other stuff I need with wasm then this gets really exciting. thanks for posting :)

Using a javascript/typescript framework to build static sites is so common place now that I'd even go as far as saying it's the standard.

Frankly, I hate working with raw HTML/CSS. It sucks. Using TSX is such a better developer experience. I'm much more productive in a nextjs app, even if it's just static, than I am with plain old markup.

That's because you're looking at the wrong alternatives. check out Hugo
