How come no one makes fun of agriculture in america ?

If we can successfully produce agricultural products in America why is manufacturing impossible?

Not sure, but BOJ was a net seller of stocks in 2023: https://asia.nikkei.com/Economy/Bank-of-Japan/BOJ-turned-net...

So, it seems like they're at least starting to offload their stock holdings.

I was very surprised when I learned that their central bank was purchasing stocks. I'd heard about it first in 2020, but apparently it had been going on before the pandemic.

It makes me wonder if the US stock market crashed hard enough if the Fed would start buying up stocks on the major indexes. Are they even legally allowed to do this? If so, what other assets can the Fed acquire? REITs? What about direct real estate purchases? I wonder if corporate real estate crashed hard enough from remote work if they'd prop it up.

More specifically, it is

> Buying drugs, laundering money, ransomware

over the internet. And I’m only being slightly facetious, these are serious industries. Bringing the coordination and scale of the internet to these activities is big business.

Absolutely! These are also industries. Maybe our morals are not aligned with it but it is one of the biggest industry.

In my opinion, there shouldn't be.

Documents like these shouldn't be automatically processed, they should be reviewed by humans. Reducing someone's life history to a list of educational institutions and employers feels robotic even for a software developer's mindset.

I understand that there are real life problems because companies do use automated processing on applications, but that kind of behaviour shouldn't be encouraged.

I noticed they went public via SPAC, which, as an investor, screams red flag and scares me.

Can anyone shed light on why they would go this route? Is it accurate to say best case is because they wanted less hassle / quicker to market and worst case is that their financials/books are a disaster and they didn’t want anyone looking too closely before the founders raised money and cashed out?

Genuinely curious and would appreciate any insightful replies

They are a great company and could have gone traditional IPO. However, with going SPAC they were able to bring 2 billion dollars into a company with super high valuation. They make less than 50mil and we’re valued at 18 to 20 billion. So don’t buy in now, you will have plenty of chance to buy this great company

Edit: Also just to add on by bringing in that 2 Billion dollars they have essentially secured the future of the company for a long time
