You're lucky, for me it was a zero-day notice. Here are bits of the email I got:

> Due to an operational change, your USD account details for your Wise Business and Personal accounts are changing. [...] From today, October 17, 2023, your old USD account details will no longer work.

Why would the ISO for this be unbootable on vmware vsphere? I've verified the checksum that all looks good. Attaching it to a VM and setting it as connected on start up etc and it still cannot find a bookable device. Frustrating because I really wanted to try thos out. I set VM hardware to Linux Other 5.x 64-bit too.

What version of VMware sphere? Are you talking about the installer for Kali Purple, or the installer for "standard" Kali Linux?

Please open an issue at https://bugs.kali.org to keep discussing it. Thanks!

elboulangero commented on Poll: What's the best laptop for Linux these days?    · Posted by u/killjoywashere

I have an older XPS, the 9560, and compatibility with Linux has been pretty good, but the build quality has left a lot to be desired.

I had to replace the Killer wifi card with an Intel card, as the OEM one was flaky and this seemed to be a known issue that wasn't acknowledged by Dell.

The battery failed on me 3 times, and I eventually gave up on the warranty and bought a third party battery which I installed myself.

The power connector got loose, which required replacing the motherboard.

The case itself is not very stiff, so putting it over the edge of a knee or table means the touch pad won't click due to the flex.

Perhaps newer models have addressed these sorts of issues, but I'd be wary of buying another considering the Thinkpad I got for work has been very solid.

I also had to replace the Killer wifi card. After that there was nothing to complain about regarding Linux compatibility.

BUT I also had to replace the battery after a year or two (it was swollen to the point that I couldn't close the laptop anymore).

And finally the rubbery coating of the case degraded badly and turned into a gooey, sticky mess (apparently a known issue with this kind of material, for those living in tropical weather).

So I'm done with Dell for a while.

"-?" is supported by apps that use GLib for option parsing:

> GOption will recognize the `--help`, `-?`, `--help-all` > and `--help-groupname` options * (where `groupname` is > the name of a #GOptionGroup)

Ref: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/glib/-/blob/main/glib/goption...

Looking at the Git history, it was recognized straight from the start, when GOption was introduced in 2004. No idea why they chose it, and if it was their own idea, or if they followed some existing convention from somewhere else...

What's quite nice with the HTML output view is that it stores stats even if the underlying log files are rotated/deleted - however if the goaccess process ends (like if your server needs to restart) you lose all the historic context.
elboulangero · 4 years ago
I run goaccess once a day to analyze log files. There's an option to store the result in goaccess database. So nothing is never lost and I accumulate stats for as long as I want.

I detailed that in a (lengthy) blog post if you're interested: https://arnaudr.io/2020/08/10/goaccess-14-a-detailed-tutoria...
