I thought the title was pretty clear.

The title clearly states that the average founder doesn't grow old as fast as everyone else. I assume ur actually meant that the age of the average find increases 6 months every year. So, no, not very clear

You don't own the software on the device, they do. If they choose to revoke that license, that is their choice.
chrismcb · a month ago
Well, no. You can't just revoke a license. As far as owning the software in the device, I works would argue that you do own a copy of it. I'm sure there is some buried tos claiming you just own a license to run it, and I know this is still being litigated. But when the average person purchases someone their expectation is that they've purchased it, not licensed it.

It has nothing to do with entitlement. If you choose an arbitrary width based on usability studies, you may make a large percentage of users happy, but if you let users set the width by resizing their browser, you make 100% of users happy. Why not choose the latter?
chrismcb · 2 months ago
You won't make 100% of the users happy. In fact if argue you would make the majority of the users unhappy. I don't want to have to realize my browser for every web site. Is rather have a website that is fairly easy to read without me doing anything. I think most people would want that.

Leaving Seattle 10 years ago was the best decision of my life. Awful weather, high prices, physical isolation, traffic. It had a good job market, though... Without it, I don't know what's left.

I'm curious to know what you consider good weather.

I am puzzled. They mention velcro doesn't work with rigid surfaces, but when they show a picture of what I assume is their solution, it seems to utilise ... "a flexible sheet material", i.e. a non-rigid surface.
chrismcb · 3 months ago
Why are you puzzled? "Doesn't work with rigid surfaces" shows it working with a non rigid surface. Of course what the article says is a true system didn't work with a rigid surface, but they came up with something close.

Is it still too hard for people to make their own website blog / newsletters? I know it takes a bit of technical knowledge, but compared to a decade ago there are so many options and tutorials. It's comical at this point the number of platforms that people adopt, love, and then turn hostile towards their users.
chrismcb · 4 months ago
Yes. I think it is too hard for the average person. It is one reason why some of these other became popular

There used to be the "Oregon sales tax loophole" where residents of neighboring states (Washington, California, Idaho) would make large purchases (car) just over the border in Oregon where there was no sales tax.

That loophole got closed once inter-state data sharing became possible and Oregon merchants were required to start collecting those out-of-state taxes at the point of sale.

chrismcb · 4 months ago
That wasn't a loophole. It was just a bunch of people evading taxes.

They're all pretty much the same? Going from somewhere, to somewhere, at a date and time. Passenger info, payment info, book.

Every airline wants tech-incompetent grannies to buy their tickets, therefore the UI is simple enough that any HN reader should be able to trivially navigate it.

chrismcb · 4 months ago
Are you asking? No they are not the same. Sure they take in the same input, but boy they can figure it how to do it differently
