For anyone taking this comment seriously, please research and understand the potential long term impacts of GBL before going near it. It's neurotoxic and can cause brainfog and lowered cognitive ability. It's also lethal in the wrong dose, with a tiny margin for error.

It's by no means a safe alcohol replacement

Your response feels like a gut-level averse reaction, not an actual weighing of the harms against alcohol, which is about the most harmful drug ever for every system in your body, and also has a relatively small margin between lethality and and recreational doses.

> We find that DMT shifts the normally dominant alpha oscillations towards a quieter subcritical state, increasing entropy while reducing complexity, and that this shift correlates with intensity of disruption of the sense of self.

Wait, is this a good or a bad thing? Asking for a friend.

Anecdotes are not data, however I used to have one or more severe migraine headaches weekly. Debilitating migraines. I suffered pretty high blood pressure (which has a very direct relationship with cerebrospinal fluid pressure, which is why I mention this), but aside from that am very healthy and physically fit, exercise regularly, and so on.

I started medication to treat the BP -- telmisartan and amlodipine -- and my BP dropped from 150+/120+ to 115/80. The migraines completely disappeared. I still infrequently get the visual aura that would traditionally precede a migraine, but nothing follows. I haven't had a migraine in the years I've had my BP under control.

Interesting to hear as someone who gets the aura thing, but never the migraine pain, and has good blood pressure

Some anti cheat works with proton if the game dev allows it. But anti cheats are generally not effective on Linux because you can just load your cheat as a kernel driver.

What kind of device & kernels driver attestation is possible in linux at the present time?

I wonder if Steam will finally implement multi-user sign on for local multiplayer games (like all true consoles).

It's something that doesn't get headlines, but a real barrier for enjoyment for a console-like PC. Hate being stuck with 'guest 1' and 'guest 2' or whatever. Many games want each player to progress and without true multi sign on, it just doesn't work. Hence games dropping local multiplayer on PC.

Steam would need to reliably pass multiple controller inputs to the game before your qualm gets addressed

In this job market, in this political environment, with Luigi Mangione a Bonnie-and-Clyde-tier folk hero, the bit you quoted was perhaps a clue to the lack of wisdom in humblebragging that you spend a family's annual food budget on 5 pounds of spun sheep keratin.

I imagine that I will be the bad guy for pointing this out. (Perhaps even to myself, considering that there's certainly utility in rich people yapping incautiously about the reasons others might want to turn on an Enes Yilmazer video and figure out where the panic room is.)

I don’t make nearly that kind of money, but I don’t think people who do should keep it a secret like you’re trying to enforce some norm of secrecy on him

I keep seeing this problem more and more with humans. What should we call it? Maybe Hallucinations? Where there is an accurate true thing and then it just gets altered by these guys who call themselves journalists and reporters and the like until it is just ... completely unrecognizable?

I'm pretty sure it's a fundamental issue with the architecture.

1) set a generous threshold over which your inheritance gets taxed, inflation adjusted (e.g, 2M not including the principal residence) 2) tax 100% above it. (should only concern a fraction of a fraction of cases) 3) put all this tax's proceeds in a sovereign wealth fund 4) at 21, a citizen gets access to her redistributed generational wealth 5) profit

There are many solutions, many ways to limit the magnitude of differences of wealth.

But America is so thoroughly owned by the wealthy that implementing one of these solutions is not desirable. The legislature in America only works on behalf of the ultra wealthy and any legislation that passes will be to increase the magnitude of the wealth gap.

In production? With a user-supplied film?

You seem to be captured by the “all or nothing” security fallacy, when security must be viewed through the lens of (probability) x (impact)
