What I've found with LLMs is they're basically a better version of Google Search. If I need a quick "How do I do..." or if I need to find a quick answer to something its way more useful than Google and the fact that I can ask follow up questions is amazing. But for any serious deep work it has a long way to go.

This is my primary use of AI. Looking for a new mountain bike and using AI to list and compare parts of the bike and which is best for my use case scenario. Works pretty well so far.

Recently switched from a UDM Pro Max to a Firewalla Gold Pro and couldn't be happier about the move. Software that works > software that has everything but requires magic to get checkboxes to adhere to a save state-this is a common issue with UniFi Network options. They need far better QA before I recommend anyone use them as an OS.

People really need to vote with their wallet and stop buying these products.

That works for people who are buying today but I bought my bike 5 years ago during Covid. I bought this for Apple Fitness and Echelon had the free ride mode front and center. That has slowly changed over the years and its now came to this.

Curious as to what could cause a global outage like that. The system consists of birds in the air and individual ground stations. There's no big choke point that I'm aware of that could cause the whole shebang to go dark. Am I missing something here?

> If a drive fails, you rebuild it from the parity.

But if the file system is corrupt then you're hosed and end up with a `lost+found`. It sounds great until it fails, and then you realize why ZFS with replication makes sense. Unraid doesn't do automatic repairs from replicated ZFS datasets yet either even if you use individual ZFS disks within your Unraid array.

Hence why this is for home users that store media. ZFS is for the enterprise where you have people to babysit storage solutions.

MVNOs are like second or third-tier citizens on mobile carriers, why would Apple hand a lever like that to, say, AT&T?
Whatarethese · 3 months ago
Google Fi isn't deprioritized. There are a few MVNOs that have the same priority as first party carriers.

My daughter brings her phone to school with her

- If he bus doesn't show up, she can call and ask us to come drive her to school

- If she wants to go somewhere after school, she can call us and let us know she won't be home at her normal time

- If she forgot something at home, she can call and ask us to bring it

- etc, etc, etc

There's a ton of reasons for her to have her phone on her. Enough so that, when she gets punished with phone removal, we generally still let her bring it to school.

The fact that the phone doesn't contribute to the schooling itself (although it does when she forgets something she needs for school) doesn't mean that it doesn't contribute to QOL overall by being with her at school.

Get her a smart watch with cellular then.
