> So, uh, the guy who made the VS Code Material Theme is threatening everyone who uses it in their products. He seems to have forgotten it was originally licensed under the Apache License, 2.0.. He wiped the commit history to make it look like it was always his weird fake license.
Real messy. It’s always shocking to me how little people realize - or care - how their behavior - especially their treatment of others reflects on them.
Might be a good learning experience for the Red states.
One huge issue in the US politics is that the Red states are largely insulated from the consequences of their decisions by the Federal budget transfers. Nearly all deep Red states are net receivers of the Federal funds, especially when Medicare/SS are taken into account.
All that culture war nonsense, CHIPS act, and so on do not make any tangible difference for a voter in Alabama. All these amount to peanuts compared with the overall Federal spending.
Trump is poised to seriously change this.
+ form factor
+ ARM/Apple silicon/SoC
Negatives:
- Apple tax on memory, storage
- non-upgradeable
- Apple tax on 1GbE to 10 GbE ($100 surcharge lol)
- maxes out at 64G of configurable memory w/ m4 pro
Got to give it to Apple. The traunches between different configuration levels is “small” enough to convince buyers to enter the next level.
It’s like “hey, you are already at $4000 for m4 pro with 64g. Just spend an extra $400-$600 for that bump in storage. It’s no biggy. We losing money at this point”.
I wonder how many consumers fall into this sunk cost fallacy scenario that Apple has designed.
