> Bose should not receive praise for this move.

Remind me of any other vendor in recent history that end of lifed a hardware product and then open sourced it whether they got backlash or not. Because I can’t think of a single one.

So yes, Bose absolutely deserves praise.

Arguably HP open-sourced webOS, but they did also got backlash because they killed that entire product line without warning.

My ISP refuses to give you a static IPv6 prefix unless you're a business customer, despite having an "unlimited" amount of them. This results in me not bothering to set it up properly and focusing on IPv4 still.

Same here, I had a working IPv6 setup previously with my DSL provider, but now that I moved to a fibre connection, the new one refuses to support it.

Can you? I couldn’t figure out how to do that. Then again maybe it’s because I googled it and the AI result told me it’s not possible.

Does anyone know if there’s a uBlock origin filter for this?

ToniCipriani · a year ago
Doesn't look like there's an official way to, most seem to involve hacking the search bar engines or installing an extension.

ToniCipriani commented on Lenovo has removed the TrackPoint nub from new ThinkPad laptops   pcworld.com/article/25661... · Posted by u/taimurkazmi

Most manufatures that used TrackPoint's in the past positioned them wrong... Too low or high within the keyboard or the buttons were in uncomfortable positions.

I would say mainly IBM and Lenovo have the positioning correct as well as on some models TrackPoint buttons.

So if you had tried most of dell's attempts and tought it was useless, that's because it was even though its a simular implimentation :)

I would certainly buy a Thinkpad T14 with the classic keyboard layout << T420 >> in a heart beat... << even if it had to be thinker >> standard price not x2 mess that was the Thinkpad 25.

(( I currently have 6 working thinkpads ))

IIRC there's some patent on how the pointer accelerates based on the pressure on the nub. This was why the other pointing stick devices (I've used ones from Toshiba, HP, Dell) don't work quite well as a Lenovo/IBM TrackPoint proper.

what does this matter anymore with office 365?
ToniCipriani · a year ago
The web version of Office apps still is not the same as the full-featured fat desktop version, which only runs on Windows and Mac OS.

You can't use the web version offline, they are not a PWA, for instance.

Fortunately, Microsoft is slowly de-Plummering Windows. The task manager has been rewritten and made actually useful, they have libarchive for non-ZIP formats, and now this.

One step forward several steps back though, with all the other terrible crap like copying your entire drive to OneDrive by default then attempting to make you subscribe when it fills up, adding all kinds of telemetry and ad tracking, shoving Copilot in your face whenever it can, just to name a few.
