Honestly blown away by all the comments being upset that a service with real costs is charging money to cover those costs. And the weak as shit excuses about why they won't pay money for this. It's like complaining that OnlyFans exists because pornhub is free.

It's $5/mo or $10/mo if you don't want to pay for it, there's the whole rest of the internet to get free web dev content from, not to mention the rest of MDN which they host and provide to you for free.

Because there are tons of people who cannot pay for services like this (lower class, students, third-world countries, etc), and learning how to build and deploy technology is powerful leverage to improving their quality of life.

I mean it's not like web development tutorials and blogs haven't filled the internet with free content for years to learn everything you could possibly want. freecodecamp will take you from nothing to hirable, for free.

> The deal can be viewed as a doubling down on business strategy that Jeff Bezos, Amazon’s CEO, articulated at a conference in 2016: “When we win a Golden Globe, it helps us sell more shoes,” he had said, referring to Amazon's diverse business divisions.

This part is a real nugget.

Is the fibre glass thing actually a disaster? According to this Bloomberg article https://www.bloomberg.com/news/features/2020-02-05/wind-turb... it sounds more like something that would be nice to reduce but is pretty far from a disaster:

“Wind turbine blades at the end of their operational life are landfill-safe, unlike the waste from some other energy sources, and represent a small fraction of overall U.S. municipal solid waste,” according to an emailed statement from the group. It pointed to an Electric Power Research Institute study that estimates all blade waste through 2050 would equal roughly .015% of all the municipal solid waste going to landfills in 2015 alone.

Can turbine blades be used as sunken fake reefs? They're big and hollow, could be a good place to nuture nature?

Awesome write up! That was a very fun and educating read. Never thought about running ads on a porn site before.

You said you can't be sure if your download numbers were correlated to the ads, but did you notice a drop off in new downloads after you finished the campaigns (or too early to tell)?

And does your ad run on all mindgeek websites or do you pick which ones/categories they appear on? Perhaps if they give more granular tools and you know your audience you can target towards your demo a little better idk?

This kills all the satellites in our orbit as well? Satellites are already vulnerable to solar events and magnetic anomalies like SAA.

In additional to everything on Earth being wiped out would this would create a mini Kessler Syndrome since all satellites are now space junk which we will never be able to communicate with again?

Great question!

The penalties for being offline are equal to the rewards you would have earned. It is okay to be offline if you have minor outage for few hours or if you're moving and will be offline for a few days. You simply would need to go back online for the same amount of time to make your rewards back.

I am a solo staker. My machine churns through about 800 gb/month. I am a huge advocate for solo staking if you have the hardware and have technical ability. I work in finance not software engineering, and i was able to set a machine up with no issue.

Check out the link below if you would like more resources or if you have any questions!

Thanks I'll check out the subreddit to keep learning about this. Been putting it off for months.

I don't think I can do staking at home because Comcast would shut me down if I start using 800gb/mo
