I think that's a very hyperbolic prediction. I think elevating the automobile to the detriment of other forms of transportation will be viewed as a mistake, but the automobile itself is no more a mistake than the horse and carriage were.
> My dream is that one day most streets in Manhattan will be closed to car traffic and replaced with green space full of trees, flowers, children playing, and usable public space.
When was this ever true in Manhattan, and why do you think it would become true just by getting rid of cars? Crowded city streets predate cars by centuries.
That said I don't believe a city without cars will work unless it's planned for that before building. Basically all everyday logistics would have to be underground. Obviously it would only work for very densely populated areas.
I'd like to see something like that though. Small densely populated areas connected by trains/metros and surrounded by forests.
Describes perfectly some problems I've had when sleeping. They are not really any problems I think before sleeping and even in my sleep I'm not sure what the problem is but oh boy is my brain thinking hard about it. Usually I need to reset by walking around my apartment for a minute. Thankfully I've had less and less of these nights recently.
That's a very interesting definition of modern browser.
That is, no: grilling, brain-teasers, "culture fit" tests; no pre-loaded, condescending "lemme see how dumb/smart this guy is -- because I can tell" vibe -- or other head games of any sort. And for that matter, no "script".
But rather, simply: "Let's look at / talk about your work. How can you help us with our work? BTW, I'm liking the way this conversation is going -- when might you be available?"
To keep things simple: roles/projects opening with discussions following the above model are pretty much the only ones I am interested in pursuing, these days.
And drunk driving in japan? It’s much more common than you would think.
In stores they will not even check ID's or ask your age verbally but you just tap a button that says you are old enough to buy alchohol.
