How do you update the software in the containers when new versions come out or vulnerabilities are actively being exploited?

My understanding is that when using containers updating is an ordeal and you avoid the need my never exposing the services to the internet.

You build new image with updated/patched versions of packages and then replace your vulnerable container with a new one, created from new image

About "new life", reminded me of phone booths in UK being reused as defibrillation stations:

The Austrian version of this is particularly cool because it has all forms of public transport on it: https://anachb.vor.at/ (click Kartenoptionen -> Live map -> alle einblenden).

And even API available (for some forms of public transport): https://www.wienerlinien.at/ogd_realtime/doku/ogd/wienerlini...

Genuine question: what's the GitLab equivalent of GitHub Actions?

I'm using GitHub Actions to easily reuse some predefined job setup (like installing a certain Python version on Linux, macOS, Windows runners). For these tyoe of tasks, I find GitHub actions very useful and convenient. If you want to reuse predefined jobs, written by someone else, with GitLab CI/CD, what can I use?

For reusing pieces of existing pipelines I think `include` would be appropriate, especially `remote` variant:

Can someone explain to me why this is more impressive than landing the rocket? To a layman like me, it looks very similar - the thing looks just like a rocket but without a pointy tip, and on the way down I don't understand why difference that matters.

(I mean I still think it's mind blowing, because I think landing a rocket is also mind blowing)

It's more precise than landing on the ground, there is coordination with the tower required, it is way bigger than Falcon 9.

This video goes into details pretty well: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=OYvWYp0--bQ&t=832s

Railway | Full-stack Engineering (Product), and Platform Engineering (Infra) | REMOTE (International) | https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/Railway?utm_source=DayMzWzJ0P

Tired of trying to beat kube into shape? Does writing YAML to ship code fill you with utter dread? Dream of a future where deploying software is simple, and you don't need an army of infrastructure engineers to build that perfect janky bash script™ to make life easy?

We're Railway, and we think infrastructure can be better. So far we've built out a platform loved by hundreds of thousands of users who simply tell us "Give me Postgres", "Deploy this repo", and we make it happen

Fair warning! The problems are complex: home-rolled hypervisors, cut-above container orchestration, over/under/whateverlay networks, virtio device drivers, edge proxies, IAM that doesn't suck, kitchen sinks - we need to build it and we're looking for likeminded individuals who think this stuff is fun.

Two open roles (apply below!):

+Full-stack Engineer (Product): -Apply here: (https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/Railway/6ddcfe47-6cce-469b-ba6d-4f0...) -Blog post about the team: (https://blog.railway.app/p/team-spotlight-product-engineerin...)

+Infrastructure Engineer: -Apply here:(https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/Railway/b8072f95-043f-404d-a313-f0b...) -Blog post about the team: (https://blog.railway.app/p/team-spotlight-infrastructure-eng...)

See you soon, and happy shipping.
