I've ordered medication from them because they test to make sure that there's no impurities. It's not that much more expensive and I would gladly pay to know there's no extra chemicals in there that could give me cancer.

Note that they sold their pharmacy business, but claim to be continuing the testing for the new owner: "The company has since sold its pharmacy operation to concentrate only on quality and safety testing. It continues to test products for the pharmacy’s new owner, Medly, along with other business clients looking to certify for their customers that what they’re buying is legitimate." If anyone's interested in the shipyards in Scotland, which were mentioned in the article, here's a site that is trying to catalog every ship built there:

Hey, quick question, I just noticed the subtitle of Diamond Age is "A Young Lady's Illustrated Primer" - are there actually illustrations in the book that I'd be missing if I bought the Audiobook rather than a printed copy?
woodwireandfood · 3 years ago
I don't remember any in the printed version, but it's been long enough that I'm not certain.

"Fun" is always a subjective perspective :)

I'm sure if she shared the news about the "artezian" (artisanal?) spring it would have added a bunch of fun for the archeologists, the city, historians, family who are/were related to the house (if they found out) and more, while maybe not being so fun for your entrepreneur friend.

> "artezian" (artisanal?) spring

Artesian: it refers to groundwater under pressure.

Any tips on extending the life of our clothes? I love new t-shirts, but they seem to wear down quickly. Maybe there is a way to wash them and get the sweat smell out without wearing down the shirt. I always use cold water, and only wash/dry when necessary. I heard washer agitation is a problem.
woodwireandfood · 4 years ago
Silly one that I discovered: my t-shirts all developed a hole in the center of the stomach area first, before any other damage. It appears to be from rubbing between the seat belt of the car and the zipper/button area of my pants. So I've started pulling the shirt out of that spot after I put the seat belt on. Too early to tell how much of a difference it's made.

Would really appreciate a link. Have been looking at magnetic USB C connectors but some look shady/bad.

Wanted to wait until this dropped off the front page out of respect for chx's concerns.

In that vein, let me say that I have neither the skills nor the equipment to evaluate any of chx's technical concerns. The best I can say is that it seems to do what I want (pass power and TB3 with a magnetic coupling), and there haven't been any symptoms of problems that I've been able to see. Yet. I'm now a little worried, though :|
