I'm probably one of the few people in this thread who are actually truck shopping right now

The ranger is a great option for most people but one of my capabilities for the truck is to bring my bike to motorcycle track days. Usually I'd only take a single motorcycle, however track days are more fun with friends. to fit two motorcycles in the back of the Ranger, you need to adjust the angle of the handlebars awkwardly to fit both on the bed.[0]

that leaves only the bigger 1500 class trucks as options for me, and why I'm going with an F150

I prefer small trailers for this but if you don't have the space for a trailer, F150 it is.

It did, and some of the things it was more effective at.

I remember BlackBerry OS 4.x (?) had a built-in password manager app and this was in the mid-2000s. By comparison this was added to iOS 18 in 2024.

What it wasn't good at was things like games and toxic consumer rich media bullshit. The industry saw dollar signs with iOS and Android and never wrote apps for the ecosystem.

Remember the days when Instagram was iOS-only?

But here we are, resigned to typing on glass for the rest of our lives because some hippie burnout thought it was a good idea.

>Designed for doing, not doomscrolling.

It still has a touchscreen, right? And it even has a blinky light up button on the side, something iPhone doesn't. I read the homepage, but I couldn't figure out how this phone was "anti-doomscrolling" - what am I missing?

The "small" screen is supposed to deter social media and video use.

I've always considered it an open secret that the motorcycle industry in the US doesn't get the same kind of scrutiny that the automobile industry does. If they had to comply with even a shred of the same emissions & safety regulations it would instantly destroy the market.

I always thought that the only reason motorcycles have survived in the US was to artifically preserve the Harley Davidson brand.

I think this is a good change for Proton. I hope it leads them to change some of their misleading privacy marketing.

I've had a regrettably excellent experience with my 2015 Mazda. Easily the most reliable machine I've owned.

Which is unfortunate because it's a soulless, joyless shitbox and I hate it. It just starts every single time, but it's not fun to drive. I see dozens of the exact same model on the road every day and they're all boring. The interior is fine, the handling is pretty good, the power is fine, fuel economy is fine. It's just okay all around. Except for the *five hundred dollar* alloy wheels, that really sucks. It's fine, it's boring, it gets me from A to B every time.

My prior car was the first one that I really enjoyed driving. It was fun, it had personality, it was a little car with a lot of pep in its step. It truly was a joy to drive. It burned all of the fluids and had plenty of mechanical problems, but I lovingly maintained everything I knew how to.

Honestly I'd take the fun troublesome car over the bland, boring box on wheels I'm stuck with now. At least troublesome is interesting.

Ughhhhh -- yes, I constantly dream of a pickup truck on a car-size chassis, and often mentally hack off the back of cars on my jogs to imagine what they'd look like as trucks (my version of imagining girls naked ;-))

* The Auzzies had an old version of this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ute_(vehicle)

* There's an awesome Tesla pickup truck mod that I'd buy long before the Cybertruck: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R35gWBtLCYg

The closest thing we have these days is the Ford Maverick. It's a ute! They're not very available though.
