If you were actually curious, you’d read the article, which goes into a lot of detail about the unsafe work conditions, the equipment breakdowns, the unstable hours, the student debt making the unstable hours even more precarious, and so on.
Also read the 2 links provided above, because I was interested. On the second page 'what will the union do" the answer is 'its up to us', so I tend to agree, it's not clear what they are asking for yet.

Employees may be empowered but that doesn't mean they'll help. It's a lot of trouble to take your TV off the wall, get all the accessories together, and cart it in to the store. If the employee on duty doesn't feel like helping, you're out of luck.
What makes more sense, for the state of California to massively increase teachers salaries just so they can afford a basic house, or allow yourself to have a few more neighbors?

This means they're not that useful for people who live in apartments, and most people who live in a city like SF and park on the street(*).
They're also not viable for road trips. Teslas can make it work but you still have to be willing for your trip to take 20 - 30% longer than it would with a gas car.
For people who have a garage or driveway, and don't need to take a road trip that often (or can own a second car for that purpose), they're fantastic! A better experience in almost every way compared to a gas car.
Long story short, it was useful and viable even though we didn't have charging.
