On a completely unrelated note: I don’t understand why people keep money in prior companies’ 401K plans. I always role mine over to my Vanguard account.

Well they sold some retirement accounts to Ascensus which you have to have your own account and login for so maybe they will move your 401k too some day and you will be in the same boat as these guys.

I really don't get what the point of the pedals on a thing like this, though. I guess mainly to satisfy some sort of regulations which separate bikes and motorcycle like vehicles? Considering that they aren't even connected to the drivetrain...
sgarman · 2 months ago
Based on the video and rivian history I think they wanted to redesign from the ground up a bike to match the packaging success they had at rivian and companies like lucid vs how legacy automakers approached it. The problem is the current laws about bikes and ebikes limited them and they had to make many tradeoffs which is what we are looking at. I guess we will find it if it was worth it to go ground up vs more off the shelf. As a rivian owner I'm concerned about repair-ability and maintenance.

I tried to reach out to coinbase customer support to see if I was impacted. Once I wasted my time with the AI bot and got a human they were unaware of the breach. I was the first person to inform them about it.
sgarman commented on Guide to mechanical keyboards   arstechnica.com/gadgets/2... · Posted by u/Bluestein

Much like musicians that have dozens of musical keyboards in their collection, I've collected/built dozens of mechanical keyboards over the years. I've got ones with nearly every general type of switch (including Topre).

I like to tell people that - as a developer - I'll spend $400+ on a mechanical keyboard that makes the sound I like, and then use it alongside $500+ noise-cancelling headphones.

But all of my mechanical keyboards sit on a display shelf unused today as I prefer to use the Lenovo TrackPoint II keyboard for all of my work (including coding). It's just the best keyboard ever made in my opinion, and I love using it.

Ten years ago I used to be really into all the mech keyboard stuff. Then I bought a topre realforce and have been using it ever since. The hobby part of the keyboards is neat but as far as "good" keyboard I haven't seen anything that would cause me to switch.

Why is GPS not great at height? If you know your location is x,y and you have an elevation map, you can map x,y to an altitude z, right?
sgarman commented on The danger of the mediocre success when testing startup hypotheses (2023)   pivotal.substack.com/p/th... · Posted by u/henrik_w

Settling down with a mediocre product that sustains your company should probably count as success. The vast majority of startups fail, after all. You might have failed to produce a unicorn, but at least you've got a decent workhorse.
sgarman · 2 years ago
VC's have twisted the idea of what a success is for normal entrepreneurs because it doesn't fit VC's 100 failures, 1 unicorn model.

I admit that I only skimmed the article, but I'm wondering if psql's \crosstabview would help?
sgarman · 2 years ago
OP says it needs to be a function in sql and backslash commands are psql commands not queries. Probably would not suite their case.
