I looked into line cameras for a project. I think their main application is in quality control of food on conveyer belts. There are plenty of automated sorting systems that can become a bottleneck. One of the units I speced out could record an 8k pixel line at up to 40kfps.

Iirc, at the last Olympics, Omega paired a high-frequency linear display with their finish-line strip cameras. Regular cameras saw a flashing line, but the backdrop to photo-finishes was an Omega logo. Very subtle, but impressive to pull off.

I like the idea of Batteries as a Service, and I could see it working in some US cities for scooters.

Many consumers just don't want to worry about battery health. Reportedly, battery degradation anxiety is driving down used EV prices in the US.

AI assisted zoom is interesting. Will it invent license plate numbers, guess what faces look like, or just output high resolution blurs?

Really wish they would at least make the Fold a reasonable size when closed. It would scratch my smaller phone itch, and offer a larger screen when I actually do want one. Currently it’s “comically oversized” when folded, and literal tablet when open.

I'd hoped others would copy/iterate the Flip form factor. A friend has one and it does feel great. I just don't get along with the Samsung software suite.

Various species of bass make highly visible nests. A friend spent his masters snorkeling Florida lakes, doing population surveys while dodging gators. Last I heard there has been significant progress using drones, marine EVs, and CV to speed up the process. From a research point of view it's amazing because a single aerial photo on a clear day can give you a lot of data.

My last car rental had half the vehicle's HP locked out. To be fair it was a Charger, and a $15 upgrade cost, so I wasn't all that surprised.
