Probably a dumb question, but could this somehow be integrated into a dialysis process to treat lead poisoning?
quizme2000 · 2 years ago
Probably not, lead ions are problematic because of the absorption of lead ions as if they were calcium ions at the cellular level.

100+ 9.7 iPads,20+ iPad Pros, and about a bakers dozen of iPad Minis less less than 6 months old all have reported a 33 to 50% shorter battery life. Fucking wonderful iPadOS, same old apple bull shit.

"The Checklist Manifesto" by Dr Atul Gawande details how resistant to change Medical Professionals can be to procedure. I thought it was hyperbole until I sat in on a certification training for a hospital group and the toxic cloud of chatter about not changing anything because it didn't make a difference was jaw-dropping.

This is a fantastic Podcast on the situation and what went down in Wisconsin. The NDA Foxconn made council members sign to where the council couldn't even talk to their citizens about it will really rub you the wrong way;

The 2 things that will make your blood boil is when the city counsel couldn't get some residents to sell their property b/c they had nowhere to go, they declared it blighted/contaminated and forced eviction into actual blighted homes.

The second is the town took on a massive loan to buy all the land it needed, it will now default. The state of WI backed the town in the loan and will now have to pay out for this nonsense.

> The so-called “super wolf blood moon” was eagerly watched by millions of people around the world, mostly via live streaming video.

How do they know most people watched via live stream as opposed to just looking out the window or a telescope?

quizme2000 · 7 years ago
What is interesting is that the flash may have not been visible to the naked eye, but most DSLR type camera that were used to stream the eclipse would pick it up.

Also NASA was (and currently) shutdown during the eclipse.

This story reminded me of Neal Stephenson's 2015 novel Seveneves, where the Moon, struck by some unknown object, breaks apart. Most life on Earth is destroyed except for a few thousand people who can escape. Humanity has one year to prepare civilization for 5000 years in orbit before they can safely return to Earth again. Very interesting thought experiment on the technological and genetic outcomes!

Spoiler Alert! Yes in the first pages there is a moon event, the rest of your comment just gives away the plot.

It's "edge" cases like this that demonstrate how complex it is for software to coordinate with chaos of real-world environments.

According to a CA State Trooper, "The state law says that upon the immediate approach of an authorized emergency vehicle the driver shall immediately drive to a position parallel to, and as close as possible to, the right-hand edge or curb of the highway clear of any intersection, and shall stop and remain in this position until the authorized emergency vehicle has passed, except when otherwise directed by a police officer. The driver of another vehicle on a one-way roadway shall drive to the closest edge or curb and stop."

My idea would be to add an indicator light at both licence plates that indicates an autonomous control in effect.

The state should require all semi or fully vehicles have a special registration to provide an ability for LE to disable the car in an emergency or to intercept criminal activity.
