I think it’s ignorance and arrogance. The US seems to be on a path to lose technological and science leadership. The current leadership doesn’t seem to understand things that aren’t flashy. I wonder when they’ll dial back on food safety. I am sure RFK knows some vitamins that protect against salmonella

According to the radio this morning, they're currently working to close all the FDA branches that do food safety testing, so, good guess?

English isn't my first language so I might've misunderstood what you wrote, but isn't that contradicting?

Yes. Yes it is.

I really get the sentiment that if you look at people who are told "it's all in your head" and then they find some obscure condition that is treatable, it might be considered borderline malpractice for the physician to have told them that... but does the frequency with which patients are told that maybe give some insight into how many psychosomatic patients there really are out there?

I mean, we had actual doctors doing the "In your head" song and dance before my wife was diagnosed with RA for a good 3-4 months. There was visible swelling/blistering and she couldn't walk unassisted. This is an anecdote of course, but, this was a very obvious condition, and we got "in your head"ed.

The example of "Clu" in TRON: Legacy is a bad example. In the movie they are inside a simulation and everybody besides the real humans do look a bit off, on purpose. So 3D generated young Jeff Bridges fits perfectly. It does add to the movie that they look "not completely real".

Great soundtrack by Daft Punk by the way. The story is linear but it's still an impressive movie.

Except for that bit in the beginning where its "Young Jeff Bridges" that was exceptionally bad.

I watched Redline recently. The animation is worth seeing but the "story" is paper-thin.

Ergo Proxy I just didn't get.

Psycho Pass I really enjoyed; good depth of story and exploration of the pros and cons.

GitS series is probably my favourite anime, and very high up in my favourite anything.

Berserk is good, and descends into Evangelion-level insanity as it progresses.

Ninja Scroll is forever a classic. Worth a re-watch every 5-10 years. I'm due.

Ergo Proxy - So your biological terraforming engine has become sentient and decided to circumvent its kill code via flash cloning.

I suppose it depends on the disease. I have read rather conflicting research about whether certain DMARDs/Biologics actually increase cancer rates, infections, etc..

I'm about the furthest thing from a expert one can be in regards to this topic, but I will say that I have always purposely tried to stay away from those medications "just in case." I am also in a fortunate enough situation that I am not required to go on such medications despite having the option in order to live a mostly normal life.

I'm not some "big pharma bad" person, but something about those medications have never sat well with me. I suppose for many, the risk of the cure outweighs the risk of the disease. But in regards to something as integral as the human immune system, I real do not want to "fuck around & find out" as people say these days. Until there is a legitimate cure or safer medicines, I suppose I am (dis)content with the level of disease activity I currently have.

This is great if your particular immune disorder doesn't kill your ability to walk or eat or type, but the increased cancer risk definitely seems worth not having to comparison shop foot-pedal mice.

I've read that the increased cancer risk isn't so much an increase in cancer rate as a reduction in bodily policing of early cancers?

Type 1 and RA in the family here and they are life re-defining conditions. Everyone of us is watching this research like a hawk.

Very well could be, my honest guess is nesting circles of bizarro world. The "we don't like social studies and history" and "we don't like sex ed" crowds leading into the "we don't believe in evolution," "we don't believe in dinosaurs," and then the "slaves were happy" and "actual nazi" sets.

That's hard to eyeball though. By weight of catalogue entries 1/3 nuts.
