Sure, a general inflexibility. This is in particular present in doing extra when software is failing, staying up to date with one's vocation, and backing/assuming convictions.

It is also not binary, and likely more a selection bias, as the people who are actually driven already left these job markets (... To earn more elsewhere).

Every time you're doing extra for a company, remember that the second it's economically viable to boot you, they will.

Norway is sitting on a gold mine, I mean, an oil field. It can afford many things other countries can't, while also prudently saving much of its oil income.

The US is the world's largest producer of oil

I'm British so pretty far north so YMMV, but while it can get hot here these days, it's very rarely hot enough to justify owning an air con unit for the whole year. There's probably 2 weeks of the year at most (and I'm on the south coast) where I feel like I need air con at home. And being on the south coast means the sea and it's breeze are a 10 minute walk away anyways. This does feel like it's changing every year though, definitely not a bad time to get into the AC business.

It's also now the law to remove a face covering when requested by the police (it's supposed to be under certain conditions, but have fun arguing that with a jake). Actually love living in a police state. At least we repealed the law making cable ties illegal I guess.

Just because something is profitable doesn't mean it's not expensive, which only means it costs a lot of money.

Or, you need to spend a lot of resources to do the attack even if it's the case that you get that money back when you succeed. And the attack is not available to you if you can't front those resources (because it's expensive rather than cheap).

ozlikethewizard · 24 days ago
surely the fall in value of XMR caused by such an attack would make it unprofitable as well

Depending on whether your OS uses a , or a . for decimal numbers changes how excel will parse a CSV file. Americans use a . for decimal numbers, so it will parse it as a CSV. Other countries use a , for decimal numbers, so it will parse it as a SSV (semi-colon separated) and everything will be in a single column.

To make matters worse, randomly, employees will have their OS using US or GB locales so that if you distribute a CSV, it will work for some employees, but not for others.

this seems like less of an excel problem and more of an issue with an improperly escaped data set though?

In related news, the Labour party is already considering banning VPNs. We almost got like two days of Online Safety Act in effect.

I hate the Online Safety Act as much as the next person, but:

- Labour have made no plans to ban VPNs.

- One MP wanted to add a clause for a government review into the impact of VPNs on the bill after 6 months, with no direction on what that would mean.

- I have no idea if this clause actually got added, but it'd make sense. If you're going to introduce a stupid law you should at least plan to review if the stupid law is having any impact.

- GB news is bottom of the barrel propaganda.

Even the LA Times, the USA’s third largest newspaper ran this article from Joel Stein, himself Jewish: https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-2008-dec-19-oe-stein...

It’s not a criticism to say that Jews largely invented an entire new industry with what was then a new technology!

The original petition died because Parliament dissolved. This is the new one that the UK Parliament has to consider for a debate as of right now.
ozlikethewizard · 2 months ago
If you scroll to the bottom of the petition it's already been considered, the consideration was "no".
