The fastvlm seems to be just doing images, not video, like i wave my hand and it says user is holding his hand up. I think its just doing one image at a time, great speed and accuracy though just on a webgpu on my macbook air m4 Ps do u know any that does a video feed?

what i want to know is if you need multiple senders and receivers, or you just run it on a esp32 and it can visualize? usually they need a sender and a receiver to make sense of it all?

"Vibe coding" was intended to mean where you don't pay attention to the work your partner creates at all. Where you just lean into their "vibe" and run with it, no matter how bad it actually is. What you describe already has a name. You even mentioned it yourself. Also calling it "vibe coding" would be a bit redundant.

No Vibe Coding is when you dont touch the code yourself and only ask the LLM to make edits for you. You still understand and make sure llm does what you asked, but you dont touch the code yourself.

This is not vibe coding at all, this is reviewing AI generated code
michelsedgh · 13 days ago
Unless you touch the code, you're still vibe coding if you just review and ask the LLM to change. You're coding when you touch the code yourself and make edits to what LLM made.

> It’s a bit of a catch-22 to say “anyone can code with AI” and then make such statements.

Also makes it very much not "vibe" coding. The term keeps expanding into "any coding activity with AI assistance" but the whole idea of "vibe" coding is that you don't actually understand the generated code, and likely don't know how to program at all, you're just prompting AI to do everything.

Once you step into reviewing & understanding, you're no longer vibe coding you're just...coding.

michelsedgh · 13 days ago
You are, I think reviewing and understanding the code and the app are very important, but the moment you go in and code yourself you're not vibe coding anymore. I think you break vibe coding when you touch the code yourself and have to manually make edits not when understanding and making sure the llm did what you asked it.

Not to defend Apple here, but it's also a bit apples to oranges (heh) because the power consumption is not easily comparable.

I would hazard a guess and say: at that spec, if you're looking at 1Y TCO, the Apple could easily be cost competitive performance per dollar.

Since they're in spitting distance of each other, just get the one you're most comfortable with. Personally I prefer Linux and I'm really happy that non-Apple machines are starting to get closer to the same efficiency and performance!

It's just the evolution of intelligence, there's no stopping it and its a dream to reach super intelligence. it might not be your dream, but its the dream of so many, and the arguments against super intelligence aren't so sound, why are you so scared of it? we're not its food or competition, so why would it wanna create the only other live intelligence and its parents basically? We can only help it, in the end and it can help us. There's no need for destruction on either side.

What could be the benefit of paying $20 to Ollama to run inferior models instead of paying the same amount of money to e.g. OpenAI for access to sota models?

I think its the data privacy is the main point and probably more usage before you hit limits? But mainly data privacy i guess

I often don't understand why my comments get flagged. Sometimes it feels random, sometimes I can see that it is because I'm too libertarian or something?

Idk, it feels like people push comments into the 1 dimensional US political dimension (like critical of vaccins = pro-life = climate-change-denier or polar-opposite). Whereas one can be anywhere on a spectrum on any of the axes.

Critical of some research branches? You must be pro-doge then, and you are the "don't look up crowd" and vote maga.

So detrimental to open discussion.

I thought its probably some bot accounts that are flagging anything close to right wing content on here. But maybe its the people who knows but it's funny I kinda feel similar to you.
