Well, that'll certainly solve the problem of housing and feeding those people.
michael_h · 7 years ago
It definitely won't of course, and I'm not saying it's right, but people who think that a mass people-to-automaton transition is going to go smoothly without a plan in place for the 'people' may lack perspective.

My guess is Amazon is working as fast as possible to automate the warehouses. Then people will complain they lost their jobs...
michael_h · 7 years ago
If the Amazon warehouses become fully automated and a big group of people lose their jobs and there's no safety net, the warehouses will be burned to the ground within 24 hours.

Is there anything at all like this open source?
michael_h · 8 years ago
Sure is: Festival, HTS, Merlin, and a gaggle of wavenet implementations. You'll have to put in some work, it's not turnkey, but you can get some really good results.

Yes. Google - definitely not known for suddenly abandoning things.

This is a great technique.

1. Ask if they have 30 seconds to chat.

2. If they say no, ask for another time that works better. People are polite, so many will not say no. Schedule this time immediately and have them confirm on the calendar right away.

3. If they say yes, immediately start asking them empathetic questions that demonstrate knowledge of their problems, followed by, "Does any of this resonate with you?"

michael_h · 8 years ago
Being honest, what I would do: schedule a time for the call back and make sure to not pick up the phone at that time.

Lol. You do realize that you are wasting your time, not mine?

My business succeeds BECAUSE of cold calls. So your drop in the ocean matters not.

michael_h · 8 years ago
How many cold calls can you make per day?

What if they're 52 minutes long?

I buy bulk 95% powder, pop a piperine tablet, and dump 3/4 tsp of powder in my mouth - eating something with it to get it down. I experimented with mixing it with various things, but it's hydrophobic and stains everything bright yellow, so the quicker the better. I was mostly interested in the anti-inflammatory properties, my family is full of arthritis, and between climbing and typing, I started noticing some in my hands once I hit 40. I do think it helps with that, and any improvements to memory or mood are a plus.

Eating a spoonful of powder sounds like a nightmare I sometimes have.

I seriously doubt it has to do with boredom. I'd bet it's part of their job description.
