Silly. Globally over half of smartphone users have Android phones. Bear was actually the only thing that kept me in the Apple ecosystem for so long, was really bummed when I switched to Android to have to move to another notes program.

IMO - you are charging money for your app which makes you a business. When you don't listen to the market you forfeit any right to complain when you get your lunch money stolen. Sounds hard but most lessons in business are expensive!

Crazy how vehemently people seek to suppress this information.

Well I'm not expecting to run the model, but being able to simply browse a website to learn about what they've released doesn't seem like a massive ask. I'm not talking about 512 megabytes here, it's a regular up-to-date supported device that can browse 99.99% of the modern web without any issues.

It's pretty horrible performance even on my two year Windows laptop with 16GB of RAM, I could try on my M1 Macbook too but the juice just isn't worth the squeeze for me at this point.

Yeah I see that - definitely a divisive choice.

If only there were a way for readers to post questions or comments back to the authors of blog posts, there could be feedback without the indirection of analytics. Too bad no one has, in the history of (either standard- or micro-) blogging thought to provide such a mechanism.

Comments like this (snarky, posted behind a pseudonym) are generally why I turn off comments on my blogs and rely on analytics :)

Nix is hard to get into. The lang is weird, and I'm a functional programmer. It's not very well documented. Flakes just don't seem to be documented at all? But are used everywhere?
joshcsimmons · 2 days ago
This was true a couple of years ago. Now LLMs are well trained on it. Flakes are extensively documented.

...and I can't play Cyberpunk 2077 on my macbook. Outside of sales/utilities (money, healthcare, etc.) I don't know where this notion of "having to develop for low specced machines" game from for web.

I mean - it's fine to not have analytics if you like to write but be honest about it at least. You don't care about what writing your audience engages with. If you were giving presentations you'd get questions and comments at the end. Since a blog is typically read/delivered in async fashion distributed across regions the only feedback you get is via analytics.

Seems to just be one more link in the kooky "everyone is out to get me" chain of thought.

This is the first web UI I've seen in years that isn't copypaste trash. Beautiful design and interaction elements here.

This is antisemitic. I don't know how I know, but at this point I know that I just know.

What an odd thing to say.
