Thick is easy. Get a battery case. I used to have one that allowed for swappable samsung batteries packs that was great.
humpty-d · a day ago
Getting flashbacks to the HTC Evo era and having a thick ass battery case lol, before that i'd have to swap battery like twice a shift.

Or those god-forsaken monthly payment plans that exclusively exist to get people who don't know how to budget racking up more debt
humpty-d · a day ago
0% financing on Apple card, 3-8% annual inflation the last 4 years, you'd be dumb not to take it

But apparently they don't engineer for smaller hands, one hand usage or fits comfortably in a pocket when you're running
humpty-d · a day ago
I'd rather optimize my $20 running shorts around my $1000 phone than the other way around tbh. No phone is comfortable in the pocket when running though, I used to use an arm strap and more recently just take the watch.

Yeah, super thin phones that require bulky cases have never made sense to me. Why not make tough phones that don't require a case?
humpty-d · a day ago
Because if the case gets damaged you can easily replace it.

People would still put a case on a bulky phone to protect resale or trade in value.

A super thin phone doesn't require a super bulky case, it requires just as much case as a person would normally use, resulting in a smaller overall profile.

I'd probably still go pro because I care more about the camera than the size.

Until you use one

I'd agree if there were fewer compromises required to pull it off.

Do you really think that companies were hiring that many unqualified people for DEI reasons? Just about every time the subject came up there were people saying it was just lip service and theater -- put a DEI statement on your company's public-facing webpage and pretend they actually did anything.

I've had like 10x more pressure lately to hire cheap contractors from India than I ever did to hire a woman or black guy at any point in my 10 years of hiring in this field.

> why AfD is on the rise

Except for the 6 that just died, right before a local election [1].

No mention that 2 candidates from other parties died in the run up. Or that it's out of 20,000+ individuals contesting various seats. No mention that they are mostly 59+ years old with preexisting health conditions.

Luckily it gives us the most critical bit of info we could ask for, that Musk tweeted "!!"

In summary this article is shit.

Ah the wonders of SPA! I know there are lighter ones, but it is not the first time hearing things like React being slow. Of course, when one start to do sntax highlighting on the client side....
humpty-d · 14 days ago
Various comments and links throughout the discussion of this post indicate that the problem is a mix of the sheer number of nodes and css. It has nothing to do with React or being a React SPA, which it's also not, unless you have some proof otherwise.

For me it's useful in those areas I don't venture into very often. For example I needed a powershell script recently that would create a little report of some registry settings. Claude banged out something that worked perfectly for me and saved me an hour of messing around.
humpty-d · 20 days ago
It’s useful for almost any one-off script I write. It can do the work much faster than me and produce nicer looking output than I’d ever bother to spend time to write myself. It can also generate cli args and docs I’d never "waste time" on myself, which I’d later waste even more time fumbling without

They’re insanely useful. I don’t get why people pretend otherwise, just because they aren't fulfilling the prophesies of blowhards and salesmen
