I never thought America was this fragile, or should i say the governmental mindset was, to just change things are essentially the backbone of what made America "America" in the first place. Changing policies that otherwise should not be changed is dangerous. When in doubt and there needs to be change then make the changes around the preexisting guidelines/settings, not change those first. Whether we like it or not enemies and competitive economies are reliant on our policies and , therefor vice versa. Changing big things first will make you the outcast, especially to our rich economy--relatively moderate population. Vs other economies of much larger population. There is fragile silver lining there to pay attention too IMO.

There was the pre-existing constitutional authority that congress had to regulate trade, and that was only supposed to be usurped by the president in limited circumstances...

Isn't this a repost? I swear I just saw this posted and they got ripped for telling people to drive while using it when it made them crash.

Hmm I don't think use whilst driving should be the first thing they should point market.

Definitely not anti-competitive in the rest of the world though.

Google is a plague, and the sooner its gone the better.

Actually, Google has faced major antitrust enforcement globally for similar conduct:

EU: Already fined Google €8+ billion across multiple cases, including specifically for Android pre-installation requirements. Just issued new violations under the Digital Markets Act.

US: Federal judge ruled in Aug 2024 that Google illegally maintained search monopoly through exclusive default agreements including on mobile. DOJ seeking various remedies including divesting Chrome. This case is still in progress.

Shame it's only the API. Would've loved to see it via the web interface on claude.ai itself.

Japan forecasting tsunamis up to 3m across basically the entire eastern coast. First waves will hit within 10 minutes.

https://www3.nhk.or.jp/news/live/ (live, Japanese)

https://www3.nhk.or.jp/nhkworld/en/live/ (live, English)

The east coast is also where the vast majority of Japan's population lives, and was previously hit by the 2011 tsunami (Fukushima and all that). We're about to find out the hard way what lessons they have learned.

Update: First detected wave in Nemuro, Hokkaido (northernmost Japan) was only 30cm. There may be more. Waves of 3-4m have apparently already hit Kamchatka in Russia.

Update 2: We're almost an hour in and highest waves to actually hit Japan remain only 40 cm. It looks unlikely that this will cause major damage.

This isn't really a 90 degree turn. The photo is just taken from an angle that makes it look that way.

It's more like 120 degrees which is still bad.

Agreed that is not so bad

As a guy who isn't particularly good looking and never smoked, many things have blown me away since adopting a dog in my early thirties a couple of years back.

Besides the obvious things such as exercising (I do forest runs)/ walking more regularly and often, a dog has had a calming and stress reducing effect on me I'd never have imagined possible.

I have ADHD and besides the impulsivity that comes with it, it was untreated until after I adopted my dog. Even prior to diagnosis, having a mammal besides you that you cannot talk to, but that is very reactive to your emotions has calmed me down significantly.

I experienced I can only interact calmly and trusting with my dog if I am, in fact, doing so being calm and trusting myself.

Also, dogs are amazing at executive functioning. They don't fret past mistakes, they try again. Seeing it physically in front of you every other day puts me in a different mental spot. Can't be depressed if I see it's possible.

And last but not least, I've never had so many positive random interactions with strangers ever in my entire adult life.

Both me approaching others when my dog is with me or being approached.

People just don't read you as a creep or threat if you present yourself as being able to interact well with a dog.

I have had fish and ants before, the mental and social effects don't ever compare.

Highly recommend adopting a dog if you're so inclined.

It's awesome.

There's another variation of this I'd like to see. A train you can work on during the day. With a private desk space with monitor etc where you could do zoom calls. Wouldn't need sleeping space.

These would be especially good for 3-4hr trips.

Given the article says this has spread amongst populations I'm suprised there's only one video on the internet of them doing this: https://www.theguardian.com/environment/video/2025/jun/04/su...

This is also an unconventional drinking fountain.
