as usual the last 20% need 80% and the other 80% need 20% but my god did Ai make my bs corpo easy repeatable shit work like skimming docs writing summaries, skimming jira confluence and so on actually easier and for 90% of bs crud app changes the first draft is also already pretty good tbh I don't write hard/difficult code more then once a week/month.

not sure what’s the point of using/highlighting rust here. low-level language for a high-level application with IO-bound latency.
fHr · 3 days ago
Codex is also in rust, no other modern language can compete. Maybe another older low level language. It's perfect for this kind of application.

For me, it still asks for confirmation at every decision when using plans. And when multiple unforeseen options appear, it asks again. I don’t think you’ve used Codex in a while.

I've always been fascinated to see significantly more people talking about using Claude than I see people talking about Codex.

I know that's anecdotal, but it just seems Claude is often the default.

I'm sure there are key differences in how they handle coding tasks and maybe Claude is even a little better in some areas.

However, the note I see the most from Claude users is running out of usage.

Coding differences aside, this would be the biggest factor for me using one over the other. After several months on Codex's $20/mo. plan (and some pretty significant usage days), I have only come close to my usage limit once (never fully exceeded it).

That (at least to me) seems to be a much bigger deal than coding nuances.

Codex is great and I hit the usage once doing multiagent full 5 hour absolute degen session for the nornal workflow alongside never hit it and now x2 useage even and now with the planmode switch back and forth absolute great.

It is baffling how these AI companies, with billions of dollars, cannot build native applications, even with the help of AI. From a UI perspective, these are mostly just chat apps, which are not particularly difficult to code from scratch. Before the usual excuses come about how it is impossible to build a custom UI, consider software that is orders of magnitude more complex, such as raddbg, 10x, Superluminal, Blender, Godot, Unity, and UE5, or any video game with a UI. On top of that, programs like Claude Cowork or Codex should, by design, integrate as deeply with the OS as possible. This requires calling native APIs (e.g., Win32), which is not feasible from Electron.

Unbelievable, every fortune 500 company should sponsor this you all rely and use this. This makes me so sad I hope this has a good end.

How? They are all losing tens of billions of dollars on this, so far.

Open source models are available at highly competitive prices for anyone to use and are closing the gap to 6-8 months from frontier proprietary models.

There doesn't appear to be any moat.

This criticism seems very valid against advertising and social media, where strong network effects make dominant players ultra-wealthy and act like a tax, but the AI business looks terrible, and it appears that most benefits are going to accrue fairly broadly across the economy, not to a few tech titans.

NVIDIA is the one exception to that, since there is a big moat on their business, but not clear how long that will last either.
