SROs do not seem compatible with modern tenants rights.

It doesn’t work if it takes you 6 months to evict a sociopath.

I was floored when watching the recent documentary about the Grenfell fire that residents who called 911 were told to stay put and if they needed to evacuate a fireman will come.

These poor people, inside an inferno, losing their last chance to escape, because they listened to the official state policy. An animal knows to run from a burning barn but here we are, trained to ignore that instinct.

“ After controlling for socioeconomic and other differences, the researchers found that the rate of Lewy body hospitalizations was 12 percent higher in U.S. counties with the worst concentrations of PM2.5 than in those with the lowest.”

Not a very powerful effect.

Yes, that was the promise you made. You said 'besides our commercial offering we're going to support your personal projects you run out of passion, forever' and then you changed it to 'actually, we're going to delete your passion projects unless you pay us money'.

You should absolutely regret making that promise. As I understand it you're wrapping hardware at AWS and GCP, and likely have since the beginning, so you should absolutely have understood that this was a bad promise because it was dependent on recurring costs towards those suppliers that you did not have control over.

“you should absolutely have understood that this was a bad promise”

Absolutely wild to me that you talk to peers like children.

Nobody owes you anything. It’s all best effort.

This looks great, thanks for sharing! I run a 1-person SaaS on the side and this would help me a lot with keeping it running. Glad to hear that you are able to full time on it.

Thank you!! Yes we use Cronitor extensively ourselves (dogfooding!) and it’s saved us many many times.

If you have any product feedback please let me know: shane@cronitor.io

> You should also remove any students from classrooms whom routinely distract from others' learning.

A good idea but not practically possible in any district, unfortunately.

You are right but this is a fairly new development, driven by activist lawsuits. It doesn’t have to be this way, these sort of changes are not irreversible.

It's crazy to me that there is so much pushback to ending a program for "gifted" kindergarteners. I'd say it's great for 4-5 year olds to be able to do...normal children things rather than have their lives ruined by their helicopter "my child is special" parents.

It’s equally crazy to me that we are spending time and money to eliminate opportunities for our kids. My school district in SFBA has done the same thing to their gifted program.

If this is really about equality then we would be strengthening these programs because gifted kids from wealthy families will continue to have access to accelerated education. It’s the poor and middle class who are losing out.

Does a 2 person SaaS count?

We launched Cronitor.io here on HN over 11 years ago and we’re thriving.

The first 6 years were part time, nights and weekends, while we both had kids and full time jobs. In 2020 we quit our jobs (and took a huge pay cut for a while) to go full time on it. Eleven years later I still love building dev tools.

It'd be nice if it also included the queries for each use case, and had a better understanding of sharding. As is, I gave it a bunch of requirements, it created some tables. Was it sufficient? No idea, it didn't say what the query was for each requirement. Would it scale? Again, no idea without the queries. (But actually, no, it wouldn't have scaled; some requirements were impossible without cross-shard scans).

99% of apps never need to shard data. Probably closer to 99.9% if they are single tenant.
