I am working to improve the CLI tools to make getting this information easier but I have stored the yam repo in yams with multiple snapshots and metadata tags and I am seeing about 32% storage savings.
elpocko · 11 days ago
Cool. I have no idea what "stored the yam repo in yams" means. What do you mean by "block-level deduplication"? What is a block?

>block-level deduplication (saves 30-40% on typical codebases)

How is savings of 40% on a typical codebase possible with block-level deduplication? What kind of blocks are you talking about? Blocks as in the filesystem?

I never thought I’d hear myself say this, but can Steam just accept Bitcoin?

Why can "billionaires" sell me AI nudes, but Steam and Itch can't sell adult games? Don't they use the same payment processors?

You can make your own AI nudes for free on your half decent computer btw.

Doesn't inspire confidence.

Use GPG, it's not difficult. For non-technical folks, use signal or disappearing messages. For slightly more secure comms with non-technical people, use a combination of rot13 / caesar / similar.

I too have confidence only in projects made by those who English good. It's the reason why I'm estranged from my Swahili-speaking parents.

Presumably you paid for that infrastructure in the form of taxes while you did business in the country. Why, then, should the state have additional claims on the money you made? Were the taxes they collected already not enough?
elpocko · 17 days ago
In Germany only 40+% of your income goes to taxes and social security. Plus another meager ~20% on most things you buy. Plus a small tax on many things that are supposedly bad for you, like ~70% on cigarettes. Death is taxed at a discount, only 15-40% depending on how rich you were.

"Free" healthcare though. It's a bargain!

Sexual gratification makes you feel good, we can't support that - think of the children. But we'll happily continue to process payments for torture and murder simulators.

Insanity.

Get worse results by adding unrelated search terms just so you don't have to scroll past a few lines of useful text while you still put up with all the other useless crap. Bizarre solutions to non-existent problems.

How about blocking the div in your adblocker, or running a userscript, or (and I know this sounds crazy) not using the deeply offensive service at all?
