Very cool website! I like the theme picker and the extensive but easily navigable articles and tags.

Maybe give RimWorld a try.

I took three approaches for me over a span of two years to really get into emacs. It was pretty tough (a time before google was a thing).

Now iam spoiled - I recently tried vscode a bit and really was baffled because it seems there is no kill ring like the one in emacs that makes it basically impossible to lose any edits.

Try RimWorld only if you're sure it won't nerd-snipe you.

In my recollection, Firefox used to ask you which profile you wanted to use on launch. I don't think I've seen that in years.
precompute · 5 days ago
IIRC you can use the -p flag to open that menu on launch. It also opens when you haven't set a default profile. And it's possible to access other profiles via about:profiles.

Great tool! I'm always impressed by how versatile a tool Transient is. I use it extensively as well and there's nothing like it anywhere else.

As others have said, Clojure is still a thing. For anyone catching up with Clojure again after some time: check out Babashka! Think bash scripts, written in Clojure. It's delightful.

Babashka is the best scripting environment out there. You just need that one executable and it runs flawlessly. The bundled libs are also very useful.

Because purporting to be extra-rational about decisions is effective nerd-bait.

I only use LLMs as a substitute for stackexchange, and sometimes to write boilerplate code. The free chat provided by deepseek works very well for me, and I've never encountered any usage limits. V3 / R1 are mostly sufficient. When I need something better (not very often), I use Claude's free tier.

If you really need another model / a custom interface, it's better to use openrouter: deposit $10 and you get 1000 free queries/day across all free models. That $10 will be good for a few months, at the very least.

I too have confidence only in projects made by those who English good. It's the reason why I'm estranged from my Swahili-speaking parents.

Low language fluency with a purported high social effect / professional pretense is a good indicator for fraud. ESLs often translate English from their native tongue (which carries over the structure of their native tongue) instead of speaking it "natively". The author is pretty abysmal, and this doesn't bode well for his technical ability.

Doesn't inspire confidence.

Use GPG, it's not difficult. For non-technical folks, use signal or disappearing messages. For slightly more secure comms with non-technical people, use a combination of rot13 / caesar / similar.
