Today I got served this video "Earthquake and Liquefaction his Urayasu, Chiba 3/11/2011" [0], which is from the earthquake which caused the huge tsunami in Japan.

I have rarely seen something as scary as this.

Oddly enough, the YouTube recommendation engine served that one up to me too.

Zero tariffs are good! That's why the US put "no internal tariffs between states" in the constitution!
eej71 · 25 days ago
I think this is an excellent point. Let's say they had NOT done that (and thank goodness they did) - would the current defenders of tarrifs see this as a path to wealth between states too? Me thinks they would. But they why stop there. Why not impose such tarrifs between cities. And if that enriches cities - neighbors should get in on the action too, no?

There is a modern Bastiat style essay waiting to be written here.

Me too, except my letter was to Sierra On-Line and my experience was on TRS-80 6809. Really classy reply asking me to write back when I finished school.

I recall sending a letter to them asking them for information on how they compressed their images for their hi-res adventure games. While they replied, they said it was a trade secret. I was kind of bummed. But being a 12 year old kid who barely understood the 6502, it probably would have gone over my head.

This person is a PHP programmer according to their LinkedIn profile. They are just using the existing OMAPLoader tool and does not seem to have embedded device programming experience. I am not hopeful they will be able to write custom firmware for the thermostats.

I would like to try bazel for its remote execution capabilities on a Conan+Cmake project but I keep hearing that it's all-in or nothing.
eej71 · 2 months ago
At the very least, bazel would devour the cmake responsibilities in this case. That's not intended as a criticism of either. Just a description of bazel. It can feel very Star Trek Borg like.

Run by Blackrock & Citadel, instigated in part to circumvent DEI protections, in a State that can’t keep their power grid stable, promising less regulations for the people running it and listing their companies on it.

Simply put, this is Republicans pushing for “Y'all Street". Target one will be earnings reports, but the eventual push will be to not be overseen by the SEC in some important capacity.
