It doesn't matter if we're part of nature. The negative affects are enough to justify not allowing it to happen when possible.

I feel like these days that is not really true. The high end gpu market is so small so most devs don’t even bother. Many games these days are optimized to run on a Steam Deck.
Things are not at all like the late 90s where you had to have a high end PC to even launch a game. Almost everything works fine on a humble igpu. 1080p low to mid graphics settings are possible.
Ray Tracing in most titles does not result in a better game. The hype for it has mostly died out because gamers prefer the higher frame rates.
So expand this out a it for me - at what point do you care about doing your job well? Or do you just want to do the bare minimum to keep your job?
Or Guix, which has the advantage of a more pleasant language.
a Nix Flake is basically just a file to pin packages against a specific version (ie go.mod cargo.lock etc...) you then write a config that defines your system state and packages that you want to be available.
Electric car? Less pollution, more lithium mining (for now)
Avoid plastic? Glass jars are heavy (and added emissions to transport), and more likely to need replacing.
Avoid clothing with microplastics (like polyester)? Cotton is one of the most water-intensive crops, and production of bamboo cloth requires heavy chemicals usually, polluting the local environment
etc ...
Or on a more serious note: I use Affinity professionally (previously PhotoShop). Why would I care the slightest about what they might or might not do with their pricing model in the future? I need software that delivers right now.
Really they should be charging as high as possible directly to consumers until doctors are attracted into the profession. Cut out the middleman, there is no reason that routine expenses like a sick visit that gets routine labwork or medication need to be insured.
It'd be better to reroute the software developers that construct complex systems to SERVE ADS and addict people to scrolling.
