Who could've guessed that the "public private partnership" was extremely ineffective and only serves to funnel tax payer dollars to private owners while giving kick backs to politicians. Wow. Who knew.

Works for me. I tend to think of "Code of Conduct" documents as adjacent to HR takeovers by far leftists more often than not. I prefer a standard "don't be an asshole*" stance and letting the leaders/community handle itself.

* Asshole behavior decisions at the sole discretion of administrators and moderators.

The second Opinion unit, for outside submissions, is the Amazon reseller concept applied to news. It's why you can't buy anything important on Amazon any more.

There are very few American newspapers left that have actual reporters in the field. The New York Times and the Washington Post are almost the only ones left. The result is that most stories begin from some press release. Look at the Washington Post right now.

- "Trump, European Union reach trade deal with 15% tariffs" - from a press release.

- "Israel to let more aid trucks into Gaza, under pressure over hunger crisis Israel said..." - press release

- "Denied federal flood relief, a Maryland town is left on its own" - actual reporter coverage of regional news.

- "Trump’s imaginary numbers, from $1.99 gas to 1,500 percent price cuts" - desk work, rehash of existing info.

For most other newspapers, it's even worse. Few if any boots on the ground.

"News is what someone doesn't want published. All else is publicity"

According to the article, the evil Google has made life harder for affiliate marketing industry, SEO industry, alternative medicine sites... Well, Google has certainly made quite a few unpleasant things, but mentioning these as examples makes it hard for me to sympathize the author's case.

(Added:) Allegations of Google's manipulating the search results to influence voting behavior are much more interesting.

Idk how someone wouldn't mention the way they exercise monopoly power or data collection etc...

Can you do this to create a database of torrents for a torrent search engine?
sweeter · 6 months ago
You don't even have to go that far, you can just use torsniff. But be aware there is a lot of nsfw material and potentially illegal material for all I know.

I wonder how many anti-torrent groups are doing this covertly.

Definitely a few. Media companies often send out infringement notices to ISPs to be forwarded to the user and I would guess this is how they get those IPs

> I use Wayland because it looks a lot better

Sorry but, what? Wayland doesn't have any concept of a "look" that I'm aware of, so how would one tell the difference?

sweeter · 6 months ago
Wayland is a lot smoothet than X. The colors are better too and there's just something about how the pixels are rendered that looks a million times better. It becomes apparent after using Wayland and then going back to X.

This dude is definitely into some hysterical right wing conspiracies. I remember he got yelled at by Linus Torvalds on the LKML for trying to spread anti-vax bs.

https://lkml.org/lkml/2021/6/10/957

I always find it ironic how people like this non-stop whine about "politics in mah FOSS" or video games or w/e, but will turn around and write a manifesto in the README drenched in right wing politically charged slop.

ultimately I really don't care what they spend their time doing, some people still want X11 and if they can keep it running then good for them. I use Wayland because it looks a lot better and is a lot smoother. Its that simple.

I got a combo of 6 up to 45. Pretty fun. I tried to condition it into what I would normally do, and then tried to subvert that
