dfcab commented on Quest for Permissively Licensed PDF Library in C#   duerrenberger.dev/blog/20... · Posted by u/ingve

We've been using Aspose.PDF for the last 10 years or so in our C# platform, and paying for the license. It's expensive and buggy and has shite support, so a year or so back I decided to see if there was some other library or combination of libraries that could meet our needs. Basically, we needed:

* HTML to PDF

* Compress PDF

* Manual PDF generation

* Text extraction

* No browser engine or other weird dependencies

I researched every library I could find, and downloaded, integrated and tested anything that looked remotely promising.

At the end of all that, I reluctantly handed my company credit card back to Aspose. There simply wasn't any open-source or even just cheaper PDF library that I could actually make work, and all the other paid ones that did work were even more expensive.

I am in the same boat. Aspose has been the go to for Word and PDF documents. Will say, Adobe's PDF Services API offers a ton of interesting features but comes with a price tag and in my scenario, it's not HIPAA compliant.

Damage to the blade tip is apparent in the shadow. But I would try one more flight just to see how it fares in such conditions, if it can be corrected in software etc.

Had the same thought but then wondered if the damage would cause vibration which would then lead to other issues.

Are images of the damage available to the public?

"Imagery revealing damage to the rotor blade arrived several days later."

There is a picture of the helicopter that has arrows in your link, click next and you will see the tip of the blade in a shadow. :(

It seems so senseless. Why does she destroy the surfboards instead of selling them? I know plenty of surfers that would buy a slightly used surfboard from a sea otter, no questions asked.

Seriously!

So you did a Wikipedia search for it, then came back to write a comment about it, whilst also not explaining it either?

Here you go: “A marathon or half marathon pacer is a volunteer runner that runs a race at a specific pace for a target finish time. Pacers are usually veteran runners that have racing and pacing strategies they have mastered which they utilize during the course of the race. Pacers wear some type of signage/object such as a sign, balloon, or shirt identifying their target finish time.”

We really need general regulations on non-competes. Bare minimum, it should be required that a company pay you a full salary if they want to block you from seeking employment elsewhere with your skills.

If a company really cares that much about stopping competitors from taking advantage of your skillset, they need to be willing to pay up.

Whole heartedly agree.

FTC seems to be down right now, but The Archive has it already:

At least as far as the connectivity itself goes, Viasat's Ka-band airplane WiFi is actually really good.

As luck would have it, I've got a flight coming up in a few days on a plane using the provider implicated in this article. I'll be doing some poking around myself for sure.

Coincidentally on a flight right right now and service is decent on United. Not fast but useable. One caveat is that it performs much better with a VPN enabled. Seems they block certain things such as Zoom and the VPN allows the use of the chat feature. Apple Music was struggling until the VPN was enabled and solid since.

When I was a fetus we worked day and night on membrane repairs, not like the lazy fetuses these days!
