To me the ability to read a whole book is a competitive advantage in the job market.

I had slightly higher blood pressure than that last time I was given a colonoscopy lol. (TMI: probably due to childhood abuse.) They stopped immediately and it plummeted equally fast. Now they knock me out and it’s awesome.

I used the same prompt keepamovin used and changed it to CNN, which produced this:

Some interesting similarities.

If I were a science fiction author with writer's block, I would totally use your prompt

Because otherwise you'd have to do a lot more planning in advance.

For instance, I called in to the patisserie this morning on a whim to treat myself to a pain au chocolat for breakfast. And I think I fancy cheese for dinner, so after work I'll nip out to the deli for some stilton and the greengrocer for walnuts and figs to go with it. I've already got fancy crackers and some good port from my last online delivery so that's everything I need for dinner.

I'm used to being able to pick stuff up according to what I feel like eating on the day. Yeah, it wouldn't be a huge quality of life reduction to have to plan meals in advance but why bother if I don't have to?

Plus, when I'm working from home, it keeps me from being entirely sedentary on a miserable, drizzly winter's day when I might not otherwise have bothered leaving the house, so it has physical & mental health benefits too.

C's text preprocessor headers were a pragmatic design choice in the 1970s. It's just that the language stuck around longer than it deserved to.

So what language is ready to take its place in the thousands of new chips that emerge every year, the new operating systems, and millions of programs written in see every year?
tomcam commented on Oliver Sacks Put Himself into His Case Studies. What Was the Cost?   newyorker.com/magazine/20... · Posted by u/barry-cotter

A responsible journalist can't say directly that Sacks was a confabulist but they can point out facts and allow the reader to infer. That's what the article does. There are many facts in the article that are relevant to the title in this sense (the prime number twins, the journal entries about Hat, etc.).

I also don't agree with your interpretation of what the article is trying to paint Sacks as, though of course you are entitled to it.

I think the the point of the article is to articulate what Sacks himself said:

> "As Sacks aged, he felt as if he were gazing at people from the outside. But he also noticed a new kind of affection for humans—“homo sap.” “They’re quite complex (little) creatures (I say to myself),” he wrote in his journal. “They suffer, authentically, a good deal. Gifted, too. Brave, resourceful, challenging.”"

Haven’t read the article yet, but I love the respect with which you pointed out your differences to GP. thank you.

Reading a long explanation on a GoL forum is a great way to experience what it’s like for my spouse to listen to my work conversations on Zoom. This jargon is fantastic.

Super fun but so much not for me. Fricking awesome if you're in the TV or movie business trying to get that effect right. Reminds me of the first time my artist kid used the term "pixel art", which in my memory brings back only frustration from my 1980s restriction to 2, 4, then 16 colors. I love unlimited colors, thank you very much. And I remember being grateful to pay $1,000 for a flat screen monitor around 1995 or so. I adore the crispness of digital output.

Again, not criticizing this effort. Just saying that I love being here in the 21st, thank you very much.

So now Roger Rabbit's creator has the rights back, which is awesome. There will never again be a movie version with as outrageous a cast as the original movie. Somehow they managed to get rights to the biggest characters from competing IP owners. It was a stunning, very much unheralded achievement. These days it would be roughly akin to DC getting to use Darth Vader, Captain Kirk, Spock, Iron Man, and the Hulk in one of their movies.

I'm not trolling. I actually want to know the answer, although my comment may feel less than diplomatic.
