They're principally motivated to do this job by the promise of a steady paycheck and decent benefits -- the same motivation that most other people with steady paychecks and decent benefits also have.
Stack Overflow is dying, it's extremely difficult to get new questions through. Even if they survive moderation then they're unlikely to get answers.
Are today's online tables simply impossible to win? (bots, collusion)
Or are players simply too evenly matched and the house rake/fees kills you anyway?

To me they look like very generous refund policies. I checked Italy's Trenitalia and what they offer is[1]:
> 30-119 minutes: 25%
> 120+ minutes: 50%
I suppose anything below 30 minutes is consideres "on time".
