Getting taught creationism at school would be a big turnoff for me and that slavery had its upsides and To Kill A Mocking Bird is verboten.

Fortunately where I live there is no political meddling in the school syllabus - standards are set nationally by the Education Dept and schools boards don't get voted in on political lines.

I suspect it’s more conservative politicians have a strong incentive to oppose easier tax filing—they want everyone confronted annually with how much taxes they pay—while conservative voters are cross-pressured and as a result won’t affirmatively demand easier tax filing or punish a politician for opposing it.

> easier tax filing

> everyone confronted annually with how much taxes they pay

The latter doesn’t contradict the former.

> Chomsky is a prime example of someone who speaks far beyond the boundaries of what he understands and advocates for immoral, destructive, and harmful policies and ideas.

Quite a statement, care to elaborate? I’d be very interested in hearing of his “immoral” policies. With a bit of squinting this just reads as something “a corporation would say”

He praised Hugo Chávez, was a Cambodian genocide denialist, dismissed the eyewitness testimony of its refugees as "distortions", and praised Mao's moronic policies shortly after they caused the deadliest famine in human history.

This reads as something a commie would say.

It's been entertaining watching the pro-Elon crowd shrink and get quieter as he repeatedly screws up. I'm not saying every decision he's made has been bad (some, like revenue sharing and using Twitter Blue, are good imo). But he really has been screwing up bad, and in ways that are indefensible by anyone with common sense.

>I can make hundreds of thousands more while still hoping and contributing to raising the floor in quality of life.

I used to believe this too. Sadly the statistics suggest this is no longer happening and millennials as a generation are the first to be worse off than their parents, with rising income inequality being a driving factor. Robert reichs class is available for free on YouTube, interesting stats to follow to help entertain other perspectives.

Robert Reich is a far-left hack who claimed that "a libertarian vision of an uncontrolled internet [is] the dream of every dictator, strongman and demagogue".
