In Castilian Spanish it's called "imperdible" which means unlossable/unmissable, which results in the ironic occurrence of finding a lost one or losing yours.

That is a bit... Underwhelming isn't it?

Rouge Legacy was a very polished and charming game that was released early on in the trend of "rouge lite" games.

I had endless fun playing it back when it was released in 2013.

Here's 5 hours of gameplay to give you a flavor of the game.

It started the trend of adding tons of incremental permanent power increasing microunlocks to games with roguelike elements that I don't like because it encourages farming instead of learning the game. Specially at the beginning where you know you are not gonna win, not because you don't know the game, but because there is an artificial wall blocking the way until you spend x hours grinding the metacurrency.

Weird flex - only the source code is "available" (as opposed to free or open) and all the assets are still proprietary - you'll need to purchase the game for an actual working copy.

"Genealogical"? Also strange. What's that mean, really?

PSA: Nethack is still F/OSS, still famous, and still under active development, at version 3.6.7.

Download it complete, free, and ready-to-play: https://nethack.org/v367/downloads.html

Or, why install it, when you can create an account on NAO, and play it competitively online! https://alt.org/nethack/

We've come to expect zero customer support from the likes of Facebook and Google, but why does that need to be the norm ?
awelxtr · a year ago
One thing is customer support and the other is user support. There is few to none of the latter.

Regarding the former, my company pays for google workspace and an agent happily answered our questions about the recent less secure apps password phasing out process.

The catch is that it's a mobile processor with very limited cooling so it's only good for bursty loads. Which happens to be a good fit for the kind of stuff people do on phones.

If you're in Lightroom all day, or compiling code all day, the Intel chip is probably faster.

awelxtr · a year ago
Is that a real catch, though? The intel chip requires good cooling too to perform well, doesn't it?

Maybe is the Apple's chip more limited in multithread tasks vs Intel's one

They are usually obvious, except for psychopaths and people struggling with autism. The latter is rather prominent in tech, so we see more of these issues then outside of tech.

I had selfsteem problems growing up derived from my narcissistic mother.

What am I then? Autistic or psycopath?

I just hate this kind of stuff. Good for you if you can create a consulting business out of stating the obvious I suppose. It is a drain on the economy however.
awelxtr · a year ago
> stating the obvious

If interpersonal relationships were obvious we would not need abuse laws nor CPS.

In my experience, these dont help to solve people problems. They are motivational feel good advice. In practice, they will exhaust you and dont work in the long term.

And what they actually make is to create situation in which your needs and things you want to achieve are less and less met. Or just make you look unauthentic to others - they will cease to believe your projected emotions.

Most self-help is easy to write and difficult to apply, specially if it's written in a generic matter like in a book or in a blog post.

This doesn't mean it can't be helpful. I know because some self help knowledge in the past has helped me.

huh, I always imagined the emphasis was on the second syllable, not the first. Of course, in French, all syllables are equally emphasized.
awelxtr · a year ago
No, they aren't. French puts the stress generally at the end of the word (vs languages like Spanish where the stress varies but is fixed and can't be used by the speaker to emphasize anything)
