This is typically where the government steps in.

Isn't that exactly why we're in the position we're in? Near universal financial aid driving up prices?

Any recommendations for the genre? Most games are just way too slow nowadays.

Quake Champions is the best I've found.

It is not Rugby but American Football you are talking about.

Rashomon is film by Akira Kurosawa from 1950 where the killing of a Samurai is told from various points of view. That is why the story telling you are talking about is called that.

I'm surprised anyone thought the line was drawn on the field considering it changes with every first down.

Really? Most of those 5/1s have an internal courtyard area with a pool it seems. A lot even have things like a full gym. Sometimes even guest parking.
atom-morgan · 2 years ago
Yep. I've lived in a few of these over the years and every single one had a courtyard/pool, grilling area, gym, and a guest parking section.

Maybe the author will explain what a “demake” is.

Nope, he doesn’t. No introduction section, just straight into compiler instructions. You have to make people care about your project, and right now I don’t.

I mean, I've never heard of the term either but the context of the title alone was enough for me to figure it out.
atom-morgan commented on A new study looks at how exercise can help alleviate anxiety and depression   greatergood.berkeley.edu/... · Posted by u/FunnyLookinHat

I think the only people who think exercise solves depression are those that have never suffered clinical depression. Dopamine from exercise is pretty much a temporary relief. Just like drinking, smoking, or binging netflix - they provide temporary relief and let us ignore the root problems.

Therapy is what finally taught me how to actually process my thoughts and feelings, and let me make real progress against depression.

And now, when I go for an outside run or walk, I can spend that time focusing purely purely on my internal thoughts/feelings. Done like this, exercise can be a great therapeutic activity - but it's not the dopamine or act of exercise itself, it's creating the time for self-therapy.

> I think the only people who think exercise solves depression are those that have never suffered clinical depression.

What about the studies with clinically depressed people who treat their symptoms as effectively as SSRIs with exercise? I'm thinking specifically of a running therapy study that was done recently, I haven't read the study linked by OP.

The CSGO ranking system is not that bad, most of the time you play with others on your skill level
atom-morgan · 2 years ago
Yeah the issue is how fucking toxic the CS community is. I'm usually pretty numb to people talking shit but my god, I always remember why I stopped playing CS every time I reinstall to play it again.

Couldn't happen to a better group of people. I've never met a DEI "coordinator" who wasn't condescending and openly racist to the non-focus ethnicities.

Hell, it was only after a TON of hate crimes that people realized Asians may not just be a different flavor of White in the office.

atom-morgan · 3 years ago
Even then, it's still disingenuous. They only care about Asians when it supports their political agenda.

In all of the TikTok praise threads we've had here, this is the first time I can remember ever seeing anybody mention what I personally believe is a killer distinguishing feature. TikTok's algo guarantees that every video will appear on at least N FYPs. Then if it performs well in that ad hoc 'test group' it will be show to a wider group, and so on.
atom-morgan · 3 years ago
There really is no better platform for exposure. Just over a week ago my TikTok had just under 1k followers. I'm currently at 5.2k.

Compare that to something like Twitter or Twitch. You can go for months, even years, without ever getting noticed.
