I think that perspective mostly exists amongst the chronically online. I don’t see it much in the real world.

All EVs depreciate quickly, Tesla isn’t unique in this regard.

The reason is simply that the market is currently higher income earning early adopters. That customer base is willing to pay the premium for the newest model, and upgrades quickly when newer models come out.

This results in a large of supply of 3 year old vehicles, but not much demand.

In time we’ll see used EVs depreciate at rates more similar to ICE vehicles, as mainstream buyers, who view EVs as a car rather than a tech product, enter the market.

Tesla definitely has suffered a huge blow to it’s reputation (or several of them) which is evident in the EU new car sales.

Maybe your take is true if you are non-EU, but it definitely isn’t true in the slightest in Europe and is pure copium.

> This is a sign that the user hasn't taken the time to set up their tools.

You are commenting a blog post on how a user set up his tools. It's just that it's not your tool that is being showcased.

> You should be able to type log and have it tab complete because your editor should be aware of the context you're in.

...or, hear me out, you don't have to. Think about it. If you have a tool that you type "add logs" and it's aware of best practices, context, and your own internal usage... I mean, why are you bothering with typing "log" at all?

anon22981 · a month ago
To be perfectly fair saying ”it’s aware of the best practices, context and internal usage” is very misleading. It’s aware none of those (as it is not ”aware” of anything), and that is perfectly clear when it produces nonsensical results. Often the results are fine, but I see nonsensical results often enough in my more LLM dependant coworkers’ PRs.

I’m not saying not to use them, but you putting it like that is very dishonest and doesn’t represent the actual reality of it. It doesn’t serve anyone but the vendors to be a shill about LLMs.

I wouldn't completely agree with that. I was playing PUBG recently and hit suddenly hit me "This game is gambling".

In PUBG: You walk into a house not knowing whats there. You find 'loot', you hoard it...and then maybe you get into a fight somewhere along the way. The game is 70% looting, 20% running and sometimes as little as 10% fighting other players. The looting is designed to feel like gambling.

And i freaking love it.

That's all to say, there's certainly rules and structure to the game, but a lot of what hooks me to these styles of games is the chance element. I just didn't realize until very recently (I'm now 39...took a minute to pickup on it)

anon22981 · 2 months ago
Just for anyone unfamiliar with the game or these types of games and to put out an opposing view — I disagree that the experience of BR games have anything to do with the experience of gambling. I’ve done both and find pretty much nothing in common.

(The cosmetic gambling obviously is very much gambling, though, and is unfortunatly a big part of the game.)

Same. I had a couple extra ESP boards from an order where I only needed one, an extra breadboard and humidity/temp sensor and decided to finally measure the temp out in the greenhouse. It's amazing to have all that in a grafana dash running on a r pi.

I sincerely doubt a single person you thought had subtle hacks was hacking.

People constantly cry that the other team is hacking and reviewing the demo shows that they almost never are. The reality is they were just better. That seems to be hard for a large portion of the player base to handle. Low ranks and low trust factor are full of obvious hacks because they make an account, get banned and repeat. You don't see the decent hacks until the upper ranks because you need to be good enough at the game to hide it and would just rank up fast through the middle rankd

anon22981 · 4 months ago
I can’t speak for the lower ranks, but I was mid-ish on premium this season (played from 17k to 23k then stopped iirc) but a lot of the cheaters were subtle enough that not everyone realized that they were cheating, even though they pretty blatant from my perspective. (For reference, I play lvl 10 faceit and have a decent understanding of the game.)

Point being that a ”subtle hacker” might be subtle to some and obvious to others. So OP, being a newbie with only 6 mo of experience, might suspect someone being subtle about their hacking but they might be very blatant to a more experienced player.

We really need to lock down semantics here, but I wouldn’t describe what you’re doing as vibe coding.

Seems like we’re need a term for something between basic tab autocomplete and purely vibing without glancing at the code. If only to have separate conferences in 2-3 years.

anon22981 · 4 months ago
My thoughts exactly reading these comments. Generating scripts is a very good use for LLMs, but I was under the impression that vibe coding generally referred to building whole products with just prompts. It’s a very different beast to do a small script (or a todo app) than to do a relatively more complex application.

Instead of being rude and snarky you could just answer the question. Or just not reply at all.

Not everyone has looked into or tried everything.

It depends. I suddenly stopped for two months and the only issue was difficulty sleeping for a few days. The depression is due to the lack of THC which your body depends on to feel good. The best medicine for that was riding my bike (literally felt the brain fog melt away during a nice long ride.)

Really, it depends on your life situation and why you use drugs. The root cause for using drugs is always the toughest thing to tackle. After that, quitting is easy. Fixing your life is the HARD part.

anon22981 · 4 months ago
Yeah, my and my SO have very different experiences regarding this.

I’ve quit cold turkey several times with little problems - quit for several months or over a year, then used again for x months, then quit again, etc. (This went hand in hand with a certain seasonal job.) Apart from very slight ”I wouldn’t mind a smoke” kind of feelings it doesn’t have much of an effect of me.

My SO was miserable, depressed, craved cigarettes for months and months. For the longest time she was convinced that it isn’t possible for her to quit, since they cravings didn’t go away. (Until they did.)
