Yeztugo Yes, (ready) to go

I would love to sit in on branding meetings for pharmaceuticals.

I appreciate your insight, the first association that came to my mind was a generic brand name on Amazon

I think you want Home Assistant. Now we ask, which thermostats let Home Assistant program them without cloud connectivity? I have no idea, but last time I looked, it was a rabbit hole.

ecobee works locally (without its cloud services) through Apple HomeKit.
amadeusw commented on How to improve your WFH lighting to reduce eye strain   rustle.ca/posts/articles/... · Posted by u/jahfer

A big thing not often spoken about with eye strain is dry eye caused by the lack of blinking due to focusing on screens too close to our face. This is an evolutionary phenomenon--close dangers cause extreme focus without blinking. Extreme focus on close items reduces our blinks.

Our eye lids have glands in them that release oils on your eye with each blink. These oils help prevent the watery part of your tears from evaporating. When it evaporates your eyes dry out causing discomfort and potentially pain.

If you don't blink enough, the oil doesnt get on your eyes and eventually, in extreme cases, the glands can even die. A lack of oil in tears can cause extreme eye fatigue and even pain.

This is why dry eyes is on the rise. Remember to blink!

I actually built a little web app to count my blinks. See https://dryeyestuff.com/. Not perfect, just a prototype. 100% free.

Optometrist recommended I take daily fish oil and give it a month to see result. Sure enough, roughly a month later, I stopped having dry eyes. My eyes feel good even now during winter, when both outside and inside air is quite dry.

I ran into the language very differently than many posts here. The Tidbyt [0], a retro-style smart display designed to provide at-a-glance information on the weather, sports scores, transit schedules, etc., uses it to enable people to create their own custom displays.

For those purposes, it is simple. The simplicity reminds me of Lua. It is a perfect choice for the device.

I have the opposite perception from you; I tried to create apps for Tidbyt, only to run into obscure differences between Starlark and Python, inability to parse data from API endpoint, inability to debug. I followed your link and saw that the platform somewhat matured so I'll give it one more try

This is great, I appreciate the ability to save and restore the "trails".

Similarly to OP and many other like-minded commenters, I've also built an interface for rabbit-holing [0]. This is a 10 year old, purely JS+CSS solution you can open in your browser. It's limited to Wikipedia and its UI seems broken after Wikipedia's style updates, but nevertheless wanted to share the source code [1] for anyone who's interested

Fujifilm offers this functionality on newer cameras, intended to be used with Fujifilm PC AutoSave and Fujifilm Acquire desktop apps.

Thank you. I also saw Fujifilm Tether which offers liveview.

The Fuji cameras I'm working on include similar functionality. Basically the camera can connect to any AP, then it will find a client. From there the client can do liveview/automatic photo importing/change settings.
amadeusw · a year ago
petabyt I'm interested in this capability, is this available out of the box? What's the client API/contract? Or is Fujihack [0] required? (I just found it on your website.)
