Does anyone think they’re doing it on purpose to profit from short selling stocks? I mean they peddled two sh*tcoins right on Inauguration Day so it doesn’t seem too far fetched they would intentionally tank the stock market as well. It’s hard to see any other angle to this ridiculous policy. If you know where stocks are going you can profit regardless whether they go up or down, and making them go down is easier than making them go up, as a president.

my conspiracy hat tells me that this one is one of the biggest incidences of insider trading ever, where the government willfully tries to push down the markets because Participants might have secret put options.

thank God, Pytorch gained so much momentum before this came out, Now we have a true platform independent semi standard For parallel computations. We are not stuck with NVIDIA specifics.

It's great that parts of pie torch which concern the NVIDIA backend can now be implemented in Python directly, The important part that it doesn't really matter or shouldn't matter for end users / Developers

that being said, maybe this new platform will extend the whole concept of on GPU computation via Python to even more domains like maybe games.

Imagine running rust the Game performantly mainly on the GPU via Python

When they are focusing on just being an API provider then they will be in a market with (long term) razor thin margins and high competition - most likely unable to build a deep moat. But if you can shape customers habits to always input "chatgpt.com" into the browser whenever they want to use AI then that's a very powerful moat. Those customers will also most likely be on a subscription basis, meaning much more flexibility in pricing and more rent for openAI (people using it less then what OpenAI calculates for subscription costs).

Your argument, which could be correct, makes their choice of the name ChatPGT* even more idiotic

I agree the title was a bit confusing. There were actually two separate AI pendant products, both named Friend.

My understanding is that this is one of them, and they changed the name shortly after the other was released.

Edit: ah seems the title has been updated

aixpert · a year ago
Why did they back down? The other one just stole the name and bought friend.com ? Even the best lawyers cant justify banning the original inventor?

Not all: only of few of my repos have been cloned.

But it's open sauce, right? Mine are Apache, so this is fine?

As long as I can log in with "hunter2" as my password, it's definitely all fine. %-P

True they didn't clone the repository about documenting atrocities in concentration camps. also either the systems are really struggling or the implementation is not (yet) fully functional since browsing often breaks, Wiki is missing and so on

aixpert commented on Julian Assange has reached a plea deal with the U.S., allowing him to go free   nbcnews.com/politics/just... · Posted by u/amima

IANAL but the judge can't both reject the plea deal and sentence him, since rejecting the plea deal invalidates the guilty plea. Rejecting it and remanding him to custody would cause a diplomatic incident.

He's not out of the woods yet by any means, but if they reached a deal his lawyers are confident in, I wouldn't be worried about the judge. They are supposed to deffer to international law if US is a party to the treaties involved (which in the case of extradition, it is).

aixpert · a year ago
The history of Assange is the history of diplomatic incidents, in that sense rejecting the plea deal would not be out of the ordinary
