FastAPI is a joy to use. Tried using `bump-pydantic` and it worked flawlessly. Thankful for the work by this team.

Serious question: what do you think about including magic the gathering PTs and Worlds participations as a teenager in the CV? Given that it is for a programming role maybe people in the US would see that as a sort of acomplishment? I come from a non english speaking country so my university and companies where I've worked are largely unknown (and I'd like to apply for remote jobs in the US or EU)
The_Hoff · 8 years ago
You could include it in a hobbies section or something at the bottom. Most hiring managers would not view it as a relevant accomplishment.

Great title, can’t get article to load.
The_Hoff · 8 years ago
I'm interested to know if you still think the title is great after you get the article to load. Of course it caught my attention, but after reading it I was left with a, "wait this is a horror story?" feeling. I suppose to many this seems like a huge vulnerability, but if we treat everything with these extreme sentiments, then nothing will actually be treated with special attention. Conversely, if no articles are given these sorts of titles, maybe no one will click them.

Since people seem to be lukewarm to the TV suggested by the OP, I did an Amazon search for 4K TVs under $600:

https://www.amazon.com/s/gp/search/ref=sr_nr_p_n_size_browse...

Anyone have any experience with the top TVs on this list? The top entry from TCL seems to be the leader, by far, in terms of average customer review, but the price point seems almost too good to be true: $379 for the 55' version, though that may have been a sale price, and the TV is currently out of stock.

I have the 55" TCL and it's great! Reminds me of the early Vizio days where they had to be priced closer to production cost in order to compete with bigger players. My one con is that the HDR doesn't seem perfect. The blacks don't seem "true black" and based on the comparison lower on the page I wonder if this is because it's not "Dolby Vision HDR"

Question for hackernews: where did everyone else learn about this stuff?

Going through the material, I found I already knew 50-75% of it, but from bits and pieces of information I learned over the years, not one consolidated place. Is it the same for others?

The_Hoff · 8 years ago
Go into it with a grain of salt, but https://reddit.com/r/personalfinance is a good resource. The sidebar and recurring themes in posts are really useful. Additionally https://bogleheads.org/wiki/Main_Page is a good starting place for putting together an investment portfolio.

Man, I get sick of the incessant title criticism on HN. I wish the quality of the title wasn't such a go to topic. Unless the title is grievously misrepresenting, let's just discuss the topic.

Maybe we can make this the go to reply on these comments.
