Alyx is a bit of an edge case because they needed a VR showcase, and it's unlikely that a PC VR game (even a Valve one) could have sustained a healthy multiplayer population. Regardless of the reasons why it happened, it's the one and only singleplayer title they've released in the last 14 years, which neatly aligns with them discovering the joy of lootboxes 15 years ago.

What about Aperture Labs Desk Job as a demo for the deck? Full self contained single player story.

What would DNS look like if it were released in 2025?

It would be completely centralized with a micropayment rent seeking solution to update records.

USB-C for your gadgets is not a good regulation. The hurdle to adopting anything better is probably too high to overcome now.

What would be the next better feature for a plug? It seems USB-C has it all except for being expensive on the port side with the muxers. Anything different would require tossing a bunch of still useful things. It supports fast charging and good data rates.

I saw cuneiform tablets over at the Penn Museum. The text was a lot tighter than what is on these tablets. Still a really neat concept, and it's neat that you can actually read it.

Tbh really curious if these will date to our era and confuse a lot of archaeologists later.

I'd love to read this, but can't seem to find it. Any idea where I could find it at?

In fairness no artists are advertising a personal coloring book. The time, effort and cost would put this out of reach for 99.99 of people.

No artists are losing income because of this and no industry is being upended. This is a new product that's available because of a technology advanced.

Why the focus the artist? Everytime you order in food online you take away a tip from a host, server, bartender and take away a job from a person who answers a phone. Why focus on artists when so many have been affected by technology.

And yet there’s plenty of adult coloring books made by a human out there if you’re willing to go to a brick and mortar shop. Got a super cool one from dick blicks, with a lot of underwater scenes. Also paper quality is important. I can’t imagine getting as far as I did in mine if it was newspaper

This is super weird and needs a bit of editing but it seems like an actual bug. Shouldn’t a 403 invalidate whatever was cached?

As in it should bubble the error up to the user.

Something1234 commented on What happens to SaaS in a world with computer-using agents?   docs.google.com/document/... · Posted by u/stephencoyner
turnsout · a year ago
We need a simple open-source protocol which includes authentication and ability for agents to make payments. Essentially what you want is the ability for an agent to take a core action (as the article mentions, like adding a record to a CRM).

I fundamentally believe that human-oriented web apps are not the answer, and neither is REST. We need something purpose-built.

The challenge is, it has to be SIMPLE enough for people to easily implement in one day. And it needs to be open source to avoid the obvious problems with it being a for-profit enterprise.

Something1234 · a year ago
This is the same dumb problem as always. Are you who you say you are and are you allowed to do such and such action?

There’s existing solutions but everything is its own special snowflake. Oauth is a lie, sso sometimes works. But sso doesn’t provide a differentiation between my employee and their broken script.
