I always feel old when I read Reddit comments by people who say they feel old because they remember when GTA III came out. I played a lot of GTA I and II in the late 90s/early 00s. Admittedly GTA I felt a bit dated at the time but GTA II was great. The top-down view didn't age well I guess but made it feel quite distinctive. I feel like in a lot of people's minds the series only really began at III.

> the series only really began

It ended with the new GTA, with the new one obviously being III ;) I spent so much time playing I and especially II, then was very disappointed with III.

GTA II also had one of my favorite bugs (that kinda required cheating): As long as you were throwing grenades, you wouldn’t move on the z-axis. So if you had unlimited grenades (or I guess just a lot of them without cheating), you could fly from one skyscraper to where ever else as long as you kept throwing those grenades. Just needed to remember to be on something as high when you stop throwing, or you’d still splat :D

I will say, for anybody reading and finds it in any way uplifting, I have been a Windows user for 30 years, been a .net developer for 5 years at one point, groaned at how bad the 'Linux desktop' always was, but this year I finally switched to using Linux instead of Windows and I think it's because the inflexion point is starting to hit more of the masses.

Alas, while all new development is on .net core, the main money maker is a .net 4.8 website, so no way to move off windows for me, for now (no, I don't want to dual boot).

Sometimes it feels like the advent of LLMs is hyperboosting the undoing of decades of slow societal technical literacy that wasn't even close to truly taking foot yet. Though LLMs aren't the reason; they're just the latest symptom.

For a while it felt like people were getting more comfortable with and knowledgeable about tech, but in recent years, the exact opposite has been the case.

I think it’s generally (at least from what I read) thought that the advent of smartphones reversed the tech literacy trend.

In case anyone from comma.ai reads this: "CTO @ comma.ai" the link at the end is broken, it’s relative instead of absolute.

Or the easier way with an external tool is using Sandboxie: https://sandboxie-plus.com/

A substantial percentage of the population (10% to 15%) has IBS-like symptoms, and would be sensitive to even small amounts of polyols (another name for sugar alcohols).

Hence why they are excluded in a low-FODMAP diet (the P stands for polyols).

Wow, WP has 10-15 in the developed world and 15-45% globally. I never knew it was such a widespread thing. Crazy, yeah, that would certainly change it for them.

As someone who adds several of those by himself (instead of buying products with them already included), the stomach irritating effects of too much of those (with "too much", as usual, varying from person to person) are well known. That does make me wonder (Sorry, not watching videos) how much she consumed with sugar alcohols, or if she is just extraordinarily sensitive.

Seems to me that it would require quite a lot of sweets, frequently.
